I've got a working android prototype (read, very rough) that does real-time OBDII logging - tracks engine RPM, speed, MAF (the basic PIDs/CAN communications), and can read error codes. It also does trip-tracking - time/distance/route taken. Currently android only because of the ... "specialness" that comes along with bluetooth and Apple devices... and its more of an "internal build" right now. It works with the standard ELM327 dongle (eg. $10 off of amazon).

I'm also trying to update the design of the site to be more mobile friendly. As it stands right now, its a bit cumbersome on a mobile device. I may just break it out into its own app to better account for the small screen sizes.

Keep spreading the word, and suggesting new features. I'm enjoying programming and putting this all together.
You are the man! I'd like to be able to update my parts, post time slips, and search for new people. Keep it up man!

The new stat update worked really smoothly - you know, until I tried to type "eventually" for the 0-60 time on the Cavalier. It didn't like that.

        Haha - that's awesome....

Well, I suppose I could put a toggle to the effect of "not worth it..." so that stuff doesn't display. Or maybe a badge/tag system that allows you to tag it as "beater" or something.

All in all, glad things are working out for you. Don't forget, you can easily embed your profile (both garage, and individual vehicle) URL into Facebook or on any other place for that matter. In Facebook for example, it grabs and creates a nice post based on your profile (picture and all). With the new update, you can track and increase the number of profile views you get by visitors to your page. Which boosts your ranking on the site.

Or maybe just a checkbox to display it or not (or if it sees nothing typed in, it doesn't display). Maybe limit it to numbers as well?

Yeah I saw the stats for MPH and such are displaying, but I don't have it entered in so it seems like a waste to have it going across the top of my profile.

Pushed new updates this morning. Fixed a few layout bugs on mobile, and the vehicle profile. A new/easier signup process. Working on search.

Don't forget you can copy/paste your vehicle profile URL into facebook and it creates a nice looking post that you can share and start to spread the word about CarProfile.

Be sure to find and like CarProfile on Facebook as well: http://www.facebook.com/carprofileio

              More to come.

Some new updates. I've got a "working" prototype of an Android app, that does real-time OBD2 logging to your CarProfile. It currently reads the basic PIDs and also does read any codes that have been thrown. Here's what it looks like:

I need help testing it though. Which means I need those with android phones, and those who have an ELM327 OBD2 dongle and of course - you'll need a CarProfile

If you're interested - let me know. I'd love to get 10 of us on the road with these things. I may even give you the dongle if you're interested

I'd be interested. I think I have the right dongle too. Haven't really tried it yet

jeffpipas I'd definitely be interested as well. I don't have the dongle, but have been meaning to get one. I can just order it on Amazon and have it in a couple days. Which one would you recommend specifically? When I search ELM327 I'm seeing a lot of different variations.

                      I'm using this one from Amazon - ~$8 http://amzn.com/B00OXPXUAK - Must be an ELM327 based OBD2 dongle.....

Hmm, I'm gonna order a new dongle thingy. The one I had before doesn't want to connect anymore. Guess that's what happens when you drop it too many times..
When is this android app going to come up? Name of it?

The app is still in development, so I'll probably just PM you a link for you to download it from your phone. It's going to need a "walkthrough" - as its still a little rough and not ready for "public consumption"... That being said its stable enough to work consistently. With a little help, I can iron out all the bugs in data capture and start building out what the data display will look like in your CarProfile page(s).

Ok - I've still got to shore up some things on the app before it's ready for install (ie remove hardcoded things, etc.). It may be towards the end of the week before its ready to be installed.

What device and version of Andriod are you currently running?
