  • New Place to Show Off Your Car & Pictures

Checkout http://www.carprofile.io (also a sponsor here on mifbody)

It allows you to create a profile for each of your cars, upload pictures, add stats and modifications. It then creates easy to share URLs that you can use to embed your pictures, or profile into forums like this one. Free and easy to use.

Create great looking profiles that look like this:

When you upload photos to your profile, the site creates short-links to those pictures, that you can then use to embed in forum posts like this. It tracks the number of impressions (views) each image has, as well as provides an easy "copy to clipboard" button for easy copy/paste.

Lastly, you'll notice in my signature - directly from my Traverse profile page on CarProfile. They're dynamic, meaning any likes, parts, or comments my Profile receives will automatically update the images below, no re-editing required.

Create dynamic forum signatures (the stats auto update as you modify your profile) based on your curated profile:

Take a look - and sign up for free @ http://www.carprofile.io let me know what you think! The website is just getting started and gaining members. Hope to see you on CarProfile soon!

    --------------

    Released Features:
    [2015-03-18] - Short URLs

    Planned Features:
    • Search Parts/Drivers/Cars - search the site for other profiles with the same part as you or by car make/model
    • A customizable forum signature generator based on your profile (currently it's a default design - working on making it "customizable")
    • RELEASED 2015-03-18 - Short URLs for all pictures you upload, so you can pull them into posts easily (imgr-like).
    • Personal Build Threads you can add to your profile - create build projects, track progress and "todo" items.
    • More "In-depth" Part Tracking (part brand, price, install-date, etc.)

Anyways check it out - let me know what you think! Thanks a ton!

    Jeff,

    What is a "curated profile"?

Great question. Think "customizable". Change the way the profile looks, what information is displayed, etc. Right now, you can update your "cover photo", add pictures, your cars modifications/parts, and mileage. Soon, you'll be able to add your HP, Torque, and other stats.

Likewise, another planned feature is that the signature images you see will also be customizable. Background colors, and text.

The url/profile you create during signup is unique to you. Share it around the web, post it to FB and it creates a nice looking image/post.

Hope that helps explain the site a bit more. Thanks for asking.

Sure thing. Would love your feedback, especially what you see as features that should be added (maybe what you found "good" about cardomain).

Check it out - create a profile - let me know what you think. New features are being added as fast as I can code them

Just got all three of my/our vehicles set up on the site - works very smoothly, with a great GUI! Very easy to work with.

Are you planning on adding things like engine type/size, power, torque, 1/4 mile time, dyno, etc?

Looking good! Glad you like it. Don't forget the forum signature(s)!

Yes I am. It's definitely on the roadmap. Most likely by the end of the week

I've also just pushed a new photo-sharing feature. Any photos you upload to your CarProfile now get an auto-generated short-url (think imgur/photobucket/etc.). This short-url can be embedded in forums like this. I'm also tracking the number of impressions (how many times it was loaded/viewed) your photo gets. Get your short-urls by going to your carprofile -> edit profile -> vehicle photos. The bottom of that page shows the short-urls for your images, a quick copy button to copy the link to your clipboard - and the total number of impressions the photo has received. Right now its a total count, but I'm working on a daily aggregate chart (total views/impressions per day).

It also allows for "on-the-fly" sizing by simply manipulating the URL. You'll see the short-urls (for example: http://www.carprofile.io/jeffpipas/p/A1B4C3D ) - I can manipulate the size of the image by appending "/small.png, /med.png, /large.png" to the url like so: http://www.carprofile.io/jeffpipas/p/A1B4C3D/small.png or http://www.carprofile.io/jeffpipas/p/A1B4C3D/large.png

I'm going to be adding a few more "smart" features, like rotating and cropping. I'll probably also add a button to copy "forum img" which will wrap it in IMG tags for simple copy/paste. Would love to hear your thoughts on anything else that would be useful in this area.

So now when you want to post pictures of your rides here in the forums, add them to your CarProfile first, and then you'll never have to worry about finding that imgur link again. Just pull-it up from your profile, and get lifetime view stats!

Glad you like the site. Let friends know about it, the more the better! So much more to come!

If you have any feature requests don't be afraid to give me a shout (jeff@carprofile.io) - would love everyone's feedback or feature requests!

I would like to see a built in build sheet with categories for all mods. Here is what I made for suspension and top end engine. Then you just have to fill in the info and save.

Good idea, I'll add it to a list - see what I can work up.

                    Cheers

I've pushed a bunch of new updates... mostly to layout and usability. It should be a bit easier to navigate now.

Also new - is an aggregate profile view count (as well as others, eg. parts and photos) - you now can see stats on how many times your profile has been viewed aggregated over a 10 day period. Working on a bunch more stuff like this. I'm thinking leaderboards and "ride of the month" contests based on this.

I've added the ability to add engine size, HP, torque, and other stats that you can add by editing your vehicle. I'm still working those attributes into the design of the profile page - I'll push that out shortly.

Keep spreading the word, and please let me know how I can continue to improve the site!

                        Thanks people.

Yes, and iOS as well. Beyond the basics (photo uploads, etc.) what other things might you find worthy of inclusion in such an app?

I've got a working android prototype (read, very rough) that does real-time OBDII logging - tracks engine RPM, speed, MAF (the basic PIDs/CAN communications), and can read error codes. It also does trip-tracking - time/distance/route taken. Currently android only because of the ... "specialness" that comes along with bluetooth and Apple devices... and its more of an "internal build" right now. It works with the standard ELM327 dongle (eg. $10 off of amazon).

I'm also trying to update the design of the site to be more mobile friendly. As it stands right now, its a bit cumbersome on a mobile device. I may just break it out into its own app to better account for the small screen sizes.

Keep spreading the word, and suggesting new features. I'm enjoying programming and putting this all together.
