I wonder if you would be well-advised to lay up some resin-impregnated fiberglass sheet on the back of any "new" panels to reinforce them, and then spray them to whatever color you want in order to try and protect them from further UV and atmospheric degradation? For that matter, you might be able to repair and reinforce the current panels you have, and then spraying them black would help hide the repairs as well as freshen them up appearance-wise.

Yeah, Mcgyver couldn't whip up concoction to save these things. They are literally being held together by the layer of spray paint on them. You will see when I bring it to Camarofest. There just isn't enough left there to even attempt to salvage it. Though reinforcing and coating the new ones isn't a bad idea.

Some interesting ideas there. As for LED taillights... oh trust me, something is in the works. I won't do them for other people, but I can take on all the personal liability I want.... Heh heh Heh.

You know, after looking at some ideas, I MAY actually keep the red interior. I think it would look good with orange interior lights, and with the car painted Sunset Orange or Burnt Orange. Not sure yet, need to think some more on it. If I decide to go with midnight blue or navy blue, then the red definitely needs to go. Decisions, decisions...

Personally, I like the porno red interior on older cars. Car looks great, good luck with the project!

Went out and did a little work on the car this weekend before my daughters birthday party, mainly fixing some chewed up wiring under the hood. Damn mice. Cut, spliced, soldered, shrink tubed, and wire loomed all of the passenger side wiring, and a couple on the drivers side. Started vacuuming out the engine compartment and the trunk. Did find something quite odd. My cousin was the last one who drove the car on the road, about 2 years ago he took it to Prom. Before the prom, he took it to the auto shop class he was taking out at the college for a tuneup. While fixing the wiring, I happened to look down at the pluga and thought "Now that looks weird". He put the wires on BACKWARDS. Lol. Needless to say, new plugs and wires are going in next weekend.

Spent Saturday working on the car. Pulled the plugs, found two of them had cracked electrodes, probably from being exposed to water when hot since the plug wires were on backwards. Hardest one to get was the front passenger side, tucked very neatly underneath the A'C unit. Re-routed the wires, then tackled the HEI unit, which was duct tapped on for some reason. Come to find out, my moron cousin managed to strip out all four of the screws. Greeeat. Managed to get one screw to bite, temporarily banded down the other side until I can get a new cap.
Runs MUCH smoother now, of course, though it still has a bit of a hard start. Tackling the carb next, I know the choke isn't working and the idle is way off in left field. Fun fun!

Which is exactly why all cars are female.

They can be tempermental, can be difficult to keep in service, can cost a lot of money to maintain, and always look better with their tops off.
