    • Was it there after the transmission was installed? Are you sure it was the motor?

      • well my dad claims that he heard it before we put the transmission in, but we were running open headers so you couldn't hear anything, then we put the rest of the exhaust on and we heard it and my dad then went under the car with a stethoscope on the oil pan and could clearly hear it, so i have know idea what the problem is as of right now.

        • We went through all of the bearings yesterday and didn't see anything, so we think it might be a bad lifter since reused the old ones that were in the block. The new set should be here tomorrow or friday and the motor might be back in by the weekend.

            • Did you check to see if the rod bolts were hitting the pan rail?

              • We looked for any signs of anything rubbing or hitting and we didn't see anything. Plus there weren't any metal flakes in the oil. Just an update though, the parts come today. I worked on it a little today should have the motor back in by tomorrow or saturday.

                • Just started the motor up for the first time since we got it back in and there's not strange noises and it idles really nice since we found a few vacuum leaks while the motor was out . Now to get the hood on and finish up a few minor details under the hood then back it out into the driveway and wash it.

                  • Just finished washing the car. Now to try and track down the cause of the rubbing noise coming from the rear. I believe the axle might be bent.

                          • We swapped in a 9 bolt rear end for the 10 bolt and I have a feeling that the 9 bolt is just a tad shorter, we might be rubbing a tire on the lca, I know we were very close before so we will check that out tonight.

                            • just got done trying to diagnosis the rubbing noise coming from the rear of the car. It seems like the u joints on the driveshaft are bad so tomorrow i'm going to replace them and see if that takes care of the noise.

                              • The wheel bearing one of the axles was bad so we swapped it out and the noise was gone. We also took the car out for a short drive yesterday just to start breaking the transmission in and we didn't run into any problems. We're going to take it back to the same transmission shop where we had the transmission rebuilt and have the guy test drive it to make sure everything is right. After that we just need to get the car tuned and then the swap is basically done.
