  • New 3rd Gen Project

It was finally nice enough here in WI Thursday to take some pics of my new project. I had an IROC almost like this when I was younger. This is an 85 L69 IROC with 5 speed T-Tops with about 52k miles. I have spent most of the winter cleaning it up, mainly the undercoating from the undercarriage. After cleaning a good portion of it of I have found a rust free undercarriage with much of the hardware even free from corrosion. My plans are some new paint and a new drivetrain with more power but to keep the L69 look under the hood. Will not hack up the car so that I can return to mostly stock if I desire. Right now I am mainly collecting parts and looking for a 12 bolt rear and an engine. Will start working on it more seriously when I finish some work on my sons 88 TPI 5 speed.

Nice car. It reminds me of Ronnie's ride.

Very nice I love it! Very clean looking as well, and I have to say I already know I am loving the interior just by seeing the headrest!

Thanks all for the comments. I feel pretty lucky to find 2 really clean 3rd gens in the rust bucket state of WI. My sons 88 TA is super clean as well. The trick for me on the IROC will be to find a way to make it unique and distinctive without ruining its good looks. I am just not one for leaving it stock, always got to fool with the generals engineering and put my name on it somehow. I have been working on 2nd gens so long though that it will take awhile to figure out the 3rd gen.
