  • dads old 79

so me and my dad spent alot of time together last night shooting the shit and talking bout old times and looking threw pictures. digging threw his archives he found pictures of his old 79, they were took with the first digital camera ever! well not literally the first one but the first one you could publically buy, he borrowed it from a guy at work.

he sold it right around 1999ish to a older couple buying it for there son. if anyone can tell me where the car is id love to know to try and buy it back. he did a complete resto on the car. all sheetmetal no rust flawless paint, perfect interior. it was a 79 z28 chocolate brown with gold striping. tan cloth interior ttops. had the original block built to a 383 with a 4-speed manual trans.

i know its a long shot but i figure this site has alot of connections and someone may know the kid who owns it or used to own it. shot in the dark but here i go.

haha fail on the pictures Fred! But I am sure there are many people here that can tell you the best way to track a car down, like where to look and how to look for it. I am sure Scott, Jeff, Todd will chime in with some helpful hints. Good luck man!

Wish I could help - the best I can do is keep my eye open for one around town or at shows.

thanks the thing was immaculate, there was so much time blood sweat and tears put into this car. like the thing was show quality and i am not trying to talk it up. also reason why i am looking for the car with out him is if it got trashed by some ignorant being he probably would be sick.

and i know why sell it if it means that much to you? well hes a better dad then mechanic/car guy and he had to get rid of it due to some private circumstances.

Nice looking car.............I'd start with his insurance co., if he's had the same agent thru the years there's a slight chance they may have a vin # around still.......it's a slight chance, but what do you have to lose??

am i really going to be the first to say this?

That looks EXACTLY like the car that was brought to the mifbody dyno day and to the dream cruise, owned by member and his father here.

although i dont think that was a 79 but i cant remember for sure.

i cannot remember the username, but he did register here AFTER the dyno day so he is a relatively new member. Brian should know his name because he was enthusiastically passing out mifbody propaganda at the dream cruise

edit: I think it had the 75ish style tail lights so im guessing its not the car, but i could be wrong. in any case its very very similar.
