Thanks for the tips Joel.Originally posted by JoeliusZ28 View Postalso figured id give you a couple other ideas:
- you can cap off the intake silencer and remove the air lid - i got substantially better throttle response and even mileage doing that.
- dual exhaust is a peice of cake to do with the factory 2-into-1 muffler, and it helped my mileage... didnt do much for power though.
- I also added a corvette servo to the trans and that was a great upgrade for $20
- if your truck isnt equipped with the overhead console, it is very simple (and cheap) to add one.
- DRL's are easy to disable, just remove the module behind the lower part of the dash. I'm eventually planning to wire up a switch for mine.
- The ABS (and brakes) on these trucks are absolutely terrible.... you might want to disable ABS but thats obviously up to you. I can stop WAY better in slick conditions without it. Make sure your rear brakes are properly adjusted and doing their job, if they are not you will have warped front rotors in 5k miles. They self-readjust by doing a quick stop in reverse... however factory pads are known to glaze over and not be the most effective so replacing them is on my to-do list.
Also ill share my experience this weekend - I hooked up HPTuners to my truck this weekend and found my trans was actually slipping a little already... I removed the torque management and upped the line pressure just a little to compensate for the wear and it feels like a million bucks again, at gentle acceleration i am using half the throttle I was using before. Im going to get it flushed soon, but ive always kept the fluid changed. Yours might be fine though... my old 92 was still snappy at 200k but that was a 700r4.
I just ordered a bunch of new parts for the truck
Hopefully I will get some time this weekend to work on it. Got new shocks coming, door hinge pin/bushing kits, fuel filter, trans filter and that pesky EVO sensor.
They finally reactivated the registration on FSC......turns out I was already signed up....just couldn't remember my info.
Looks like I should have held out for a 98-up truck...HPtuners doesn't support the 96-97 vortec trucks
I see alot of guys are swapping PCM's on these trucks to get the 98-up units so they can tune. Maybe I'll do a swap so I can use my last 2 credits on HTP
DRL's seem to be already disabled on my truck....they don't come on so somebody got to it before me
I did finally run all my RPO codes, come to find out the truck has keyless entry
The people I bought it from didn't know that. I just have to order the right remote.
Found out it also has a 3.42 rear gear.sigpicTurbo Charged LS1/T56

Think HPTuners would work on my truck? I know it's a diesel, but I mean as far as the transmission part goes?2015 Silverado

Let me know how the door hinge/pin replacement goes, mine kinda needs that too. And thanks for mentioning that EVO sensor, i just looked that gem up and realized mine is bad too - thought it was my pitman arms. Where did you order that stuff if you dont mind me asking?Originally posted by WMCCjames View PostThanks for the tips Joel.

Joel.....just finished up doing the door hinge/bushings...took about 45 minutes, not a bad job at all....heck of alot easier than doing them on an f-bodyOriginally posted by JoeliusZ28 View PostLet me know how the door hinge/pin replacement goes, mine kinda needs that too. Door closes like new now
Also put on the new EVO sensor...holy cow....the truck steers SO much better now.....crazy that a sensor can make that big of a difference. I was for certain that I had some worn out steering components, she's nice and tight now.
Hey Dino...the Caddy was cramping my style so it had to go.
