Do you know if the red one was from around the Grand Rapids area? I remember seeing a red one near Ada many years ago and is still the only one I've seen in person but it was going the opposite way on a divided 4 lane road.

The guys that used to own DieLine had a red one a few years ago. I have not seen it in quite a while.

Maybe...these are pretty rare...not sure of the exact build numbers, but I don't think they made more than 30 in any given year...only 10 in 2002.

I've seen exactly two of them in my life.

There are, as accurate as I know, 18 official Callaway C8s. I don't want to get too technical right now, so I'll leave it at that. In order to be an official C8, it had to have both the body and the engine by Callaway. The special leather interior, wheels, etc. were not required. You can tell an official from an unofficial usually by the nose badge being there or not. Only official cars were supposed to get them, but some people found ways to get them other ways.

Callaway's records show the number of SuperNatural Camaros is 55 (which includes the previously mentioned 18 C8s). This number isn't true though, because many of those 55 engines went in cars other than Camaros. For example, I know one went in a Firebird, another went in a Suburban, and another went in a Blazer...

Callaway never kept records on how many CamAerobodies they sold, so there are probably a dozen to two dozen Camaros with that body I figure.

In a completely separate category are the LS1 Callaway Camaros. I don't study these very much, because there are only two official ones. One is silver and the other is metallic red. They were 2002 Commemorative C8s. Callaway said they would make 10, but only made two. One of the 18 C8s mentioned above has this body on it, but the car is a '96 SS underneath the Commemorative C8 body panels. They aren't very attractive in my opinion, so I don't research them much. Plus... there's just not much info out there on them.

Here's what the metallic red one looks like. It has a very special engine in it. It's either the spare engine from one of the two Callaway C7Rs, or it is the spare engine from one of the C12 race cars. I can't remember off the top of my head.

Yes, I believe it was from that area. If you click the picture I posted, you can see someone's entire gallery devoted to that car--warning though, it isn't a very attractive C8, it has stock Z28 tips on the Callaway exhaust and needs to be lowered BAD. The owner of that album was a guy who worked at the shop it was being worked on at.

But let me throw a little "conspiracy theory" at you.

People say that most 3rd gen and 4th gen aftermarket "tuners" didn't keep records on what they built.

I'll call BS on that. I'd bet money they have every VIN documented and buried in the corner of their back yard.

Especially with major 60s tuners like Yenko and Baldwin-Motion wanting $10K to verify a VIN for you.

But there is a good reason.

GM right now is going after Pontiac Historical Services (not part of GM) claiming that the information PHS is giving out is still GM property. If you contact PHS right now and ask for details on anything not 25 years old (1983) they mail your check back and say they can't help you.

They have the info, but are currently in litigation with GM on if they can release it. Evidently, as rumors go, if it's over 25 years old, GM can't make a claim on it.

Regardless, great stuff on the Callaways.

Callaway has records for each of the 55 cars they refer to as the SuperNatural Camaros, because they did the work on them. They haven't offered to tell me all that information though. I had to learn it the hard way, like putting together a puzzle. VIN information is considered private by most people/companies. Honestly, I could care less about the VIN, I just want to know what color the cars were and what was done to them. I like putting the puzzle together myself, so I don't bother them with questions very often.


If somebody ordered just the bodykit and wanted it shipped to them, then they have no record, because the VIN of the vehicle wasn't recorded. So they don't have any idea how many total they've sold. They probably have an idea of how many they installed, but I've never asked that specific question... maybe I should.

They aren't better looking than standard '93-'97 Camaros, but other than a Dodge Viper GTS, there isn't a single other car I'd like more that came out pre-1997.

Though I'm pretty sure this one (the one I intend on buying), looks pretty freakin' badass no matter what anybody else thinks.

The red car in the pictures is at Impact Collision on the corner or 36th Street and Kraft in Grand Rapids. I'm guessing it was in an accident since it has 97+ tails on it. The guy that owns the shop picks up all kinds of exotic repairables. I see them smashed in front of the shop then a few weeks later he's driving them around then they usually go up for sale. I'm sure this is the car I've seen. Now that I think about it, I seem to remember seeing it sitting at Impact one day and I never saw it again after that.

Both black C8s I know about have the special (and expensive) german leather interiors. One is an automatic, and the other is a manual. Here's a pic of the aquafresh lookin' interior.


Being that the black ones are my favorites, if anybody has other pics of black ones, I'd love to see them!

I think that's the name of the place that it was at; it shouldn't be there anymore though. I have a friend in Florida that bought it last year and I believe he has it in Florida with him. I don't know the reason for the the '97 tail lights though. My friend got it for a really good deal, because there was a small crack running all the way through the nose. It's really unusual looking with the mods it has.

It probably looks better in person. You could have the accent stripes in any color, and that's just what was picked. There's another one that didn't have any stripes added, and it looks great.

Anybody else have a firsthand opinion of this car? Is it truly rusted out? Is the interior truly awful? Any info would be cool to hear.
