Brian, first of all, thank you for taking the time to fully explain yourself.
I knew you had better sense than to just jump on the "me too" band wagon at a time when this thread had already gone away from the initial topic of the idiots that burned the Viper, to a generalization about "religious people". (Even if everyone who chimed in about it, claims to have really meant OVER-religious people, that's not what was said.)
You may find it surprising that I was not greatly offended, in a personal way, but was more concerned that the site would allow generalized bashing of another group with differing convictions than the responding members.
There is a real difference between commenting about a specific group of over-religious fanatics (the ones that did the vandalism) and a generalized lumping together of ALL religious people (again, that's how it was stated).
Everyone knows that there has been more blood spilled throughout history "in the name of God", than just about any other reason. It's still going on every day in Iraq and other places around the world. But, that does not mean ALL religious people are bad.
Each person has to come to their own decision about what they are going to do about God, if anything. When someone who does not have a relationship with God points their finger at those that do, and say they "hate" them, they are really no different than the (over) religious people that try to force their beliefs onto them (the un-belivers).
But in the end, this is a car related website, and a great place to hang out. It feels like "family" most of the time. Sometimes potentially flamible topics (like religion) can be discussed and not turn into a problem, other times, not.
Let's respect that everyone has the right to their own beliefs, and get back to talking about cars.
