What I find amusing is all the religion bashers seem to ask for help and "PRAYERS" when things turn bad and run a muck.

A couple of months back the "Do you believe in God" thread was handled in a mature, fair and non-judgemental fashion. It had great potential to get out-of-hand, but for the most part, that didn't happen. I was very impressed that our "family" here, was able to have a discussion, on a potentially flamible subject, and it stayed calm and respectful.

However this thread went bad pretty much right from the start, resorting to generalities, stereotypes and bashing early on.

We need to respect the rights of everyone here, be they religious, or not. We especially don't need staff or administrators joing in on the bashing bandwagon. This thread quickly switched from being about the Viper story to a religious bashing session. That's not the way we need to run our forum.

Wow...some things are taken WAY too seriously.

When I said "religious" I meant "over-religous" like that group of crazies who protest at soldiers' funerals. That's overly-religious.

My friends mom is overly-religious. ****, he's 17 and isn't allowed to play "T" rated games or watch "PG-13" movies - and he has like 9 siblings.

Sure, religion is great - keep it to yourself, and don't burn my car, or I'll burn you....

Do keep in mind that the burning of the viper is a direct result of over-religionism (Yes, I just made that term up).

What about me - I happen to have three sixes in a row in my cell phone number? Burn me?

It's not a religion bashing thread, someone just happened to take things a little too seriously....

People on the opposite end of the spectrum could probably make the same arguement about something you feel strongly about. Yea they took it too seriously, but guess what happens when you freak out about their craziness? They win - because getting noticed was exactly their goal.

Sorry if that offended anyone, including you, Doug. Let me restate my stance better than just being lazy and quoting a random comment and saying "agree."

I really have absolutely no respect for people that are "so religious" that they burn a car just be cause the license plate has '666' in it. Just like I have no respect for the people that are "so religious" that they make a huge stink over Dodge naming that one car the "Dodge Demon." I don't hate all religious people, nor do I have anything against any religions in general. It's the people that take their religions to an extreme that I dislike. The people that burned the Viper just because it has a '666' license plate is truly no better than the suicide bombers in Iraq. Using religion to constitute violence is just disgusting. In my opinion, religion is something that should be practiced in private or specifically in like-minded groups. Don't shove the religion onto others, like burning a vehicle just because it has a "satanic" symbol in the license plate.

Hopefully my rephrase explains it better. I wasn't meaning to offend or insult anyone here because I highly doubt that anyone here would burn a vehicle just because of it's license plate or kill others based on their religion. Those are the people I hate, not simple religious people. It's the extremists, the zealots, the terrorists of religion that need to be "removed." I think everyone in this thread is bashing the act -- burning a license plate just because of the symbol it represents -- not the religion, not religion in general, nor religious people in general. In some ways, I thought y'all knew my personal stance better than that. Guess I assumed that y'all would know what I meant, and I apologize for that.

Brian I have to agree with you on this, in my honest opinion, faith is a great thing, I have my own beliefs and I for the most part keep them to myself, but for sake of commenting here, I'll break that semi-rule.

( I apologize for constantly refering to the almighty as a "he" its just a main stream habit, I have no clue if god is a god, goddess, neither or both)

Several things that really get on my nerves are the ninny's that think anything even remotely related to Hell, Satan, and so forth like in this case is bad. Like those idiots down south that wanted to change the official phone greeting from "hello" to "heaven-o" because they didnt like that the word hell is "buried" within it. Stupid.

Another is, the people who have to shove God in my face all the time and in manners not really befitting a supreme being, In fact, its that behavior that made me stop going to church. First off god does not need little plastic fish,he does not need door to door salesmen, he does not need a 18 disc volume of the bible on DVD, he doesn't need snarky bumper stickers or bill boards with vaguely threating quotes he never said, and certainly doesnt need those "God is my pilot, Im just the co-pilot" novelty plates. Look, god helps those who help themselves, god cannot be your pilot, both in life and on the road. The lord almighty has better shit to do then drive your damn rusty caravan around. Plus if Im right, isnt it a sin to make money off God? Congradulations you just made yourself an accessory to sin by buying that stupid crap.

Or the custom plates, with misdirected messages. Like this lady that used to park in front of me at my apartment, her plate said "Lkatgod" which, unless im mistaken meant "look at God". It could have also meant she believed herself to be god of the Lkats whatever the hell those are. But assuming she meant the former, I found it slightly offensive. I mean, Im sure what she meant was "look to god" but taken in a literal sense, looking directly at god is supposed to make you spontaneously combust. Every day It was like coming home from a hard days work to a little sign that read "burst into flames and die!"
