  • New rotors?

Going to put new brakes on this spring. Got new Hawk pads. Was going to get my rotors turned but checked and can get new bendix Oem type rotors from rock auto for $117 shipped while it will cost $60 to get my 4 rotors turned. Any opinions as to which way to go? When I bought car (10 my miles ago) was told rotors and pads had been replaced so I think they could be turned

todays rotors are just throw aways. Once you make them thinner, they will be easier to warp.

Two schools of thought on this. One is toss and replace, the other prefers a "seasoned" rotor (much like a seasoned engine block)

I have no issue turning rotors that aren't severely warped

worse case is he turns them, spends the 60 bucks and then ends up replacing them again this summer.

Depends on the driving style and how bad they are as well as what they are. With my driving style I would just toss them. My mom had the brakes turned on her Cavalier a few times and usually they would be warped again in 5-10k miles requiring full replacement.

when I found out how cheaply I could get new ones, I was thinking that it would be so much easier to just take the old ones off and slap the new ones on instead of having to stop what I was doing to take them to be cut.

In a cheap set of blanks, yeah I'd replace.

$250 set of PowerSlot rotors on the other hand

would never buy slotted or drilled rotors.

Slotted is okay - drilled, however, no thanks.
