How did you torque the control arms down when you changed them out? They need to be torqued with the suspension at ride height or you will preload the bushings.

I did it with the axel on jack stands. Is the rubber supposed to twist inside the bushing shell? I never gave it any thought. I may have to double check that tomorrow. But I am fairly sure I did it while it was bearing weight.

I put new shocks on it today also. I did have a go round with hop today after I changed the knock sensors. I went up to Advance auto and did a round of "testing" . Ill be a s.o.b. if it didnt hop like a biotch! So new shocks. I think I will check the bushing "preload" again tomorrow. Maybe I didnt have it on the stands. who knows? I am just going to drive it for a while and enjoy it after that. No check eng light. runs good, looks good.

Ok so the wheel hop is back bigger that shit! New shocks. trailing arms from the 98 with bushings that looked to be in good shape. torque arm is tight and bushing looks good. Its bad, the wheel hop is one wheel at a time, so the axel is pivoting around the pumpkin. So right wheel up left down the left wheel up right down, and repeat.

Anything I can look at or for? I dont want to just start throwing money and parts at it yet. without some kind of logical reason why. Tell me where to look and what to look for.

I had wheel hop on my car when I bought it.. Tried new LCA's with relo brackets, no help. Switched to a tunnel mount torque arm and no more wheel hop..

I would take a good look at the torque arm. The bushing at the front end of it could be worn. You could try changing to a poly bushing here, it wont cause vibration like in other areas. Also the trans mount since motion of trans affects motion of the torque arm. and also the torque arm itself. I actually stretched the bolt holes at the pig on my stock torque arm. Changing to a tubular style torque arm was the only thing that made a significant difference on my car, but i think that upgrade is more crucial on 6 speeds due to shock loading than automatics.

Mine is made by spohn. But I would check your bushings as Joel suggested. Are you on a stock or aftermarket torque arm?

Joel, is your new torque arm still mounted at the tailshaft?

Yes it is, with a poly bushing. Car is 100x more solid than with the stock tq arm. Doesnt "buck" when i dump the clutch its just a clean spin now. I also have a poly trans mount, so minimal movement there too.
