Tire sizes help!

I have 17x8 and 17x10 wheels. What is the best tire sizes for these wheels? Thanks

Just the width. So 255 and 295. They are going on an 87 iroc

you can fit a 295 on a 10" rim? I have 17 x 10.5's all the way around on my 95 and I was looking for a bigger and wider tire, the guy before me put 245/45/17 on them and they look to short and way to narow, I wasnt sure what size to put on. I was thinking 275's could i swing the 275's up front and 295's in the rear?

IMO 245/285 is the biggest sizes that are actually worth it on that size wheel. Any bigger than that and it's just a bit oversized. I would make the decision more based on availability and price.

Most Brand suggest a 9.5" wheel for a 285 tire.

I have Nitto 255 45 17s(8" wide) and 285 40 17s(9.5 wide) on my chevelle. Overall tire diameter is the same just an inch wider in back.
