Good tires for the DD

My Intrepid needs new tires, like Uber bad..... Car only has 37,000 on it, but they are the original tires from the factory in 04 and they are dry rotted to hell.

Im driving the thing every day now (60-90 miles a day average) so Id like something quiet and a good all season tire. Road noise is a biggie as im on the phone a lot and the Michelin's on it now drive me nuts (doesnt help there 10 years old).

Id also like to not have to spend an arm and a leg if possible. Kinda sorta broke as **** right now...

Michelin makes a hell of a tire. IMO there tire program in terms of wear, noise, ect is a step ahead of almost everyone elses. You will pay for them tho.

Michelin what? They make a ton of different lines of tires.

It has Michelin hydro edge tires on it now, seem pretty good in the summer, but absolutely blow in the winter. A light dusting of snow leaves me stranded or driving 15mph on the expressway like grandma, Have a hard time getting out of our little subdivision in the winter most of the time.

I can get Michelin Defenders for $660 installed with the road hazards, but I really shouldnt be spending that kinda money right now.

But in related news, for cheaper tires I've always had good luck with Kuhmos. I thing the Ecsta ASX's or something like that are their "higher performance all season" tires and they gripped well in dry/wet/snow on one of my DD's.

on the road hazard, best bang for your dollar, like I posted earlier the Kuhmo's are a great tire, I would buy them again.

Had those ASX's on the GXP. They did alright in the winter.

That 05 Fusion that came into the shop for a passenger axle, belts, brakes, etc. had some old tires. I told the guy to look into some new all weather tires (he did, Continentals of some sort. Under $500 with warranty and alignment check) and the car rode so much quieter that he noticed a new issue - the wheel bearing was starting to get some play. I could barely tell by hand so I verified by dial indicator. I took it for a spin after and I was impressed with how quiet that car was. Discount even put it back on the rack for free when I finished the wheel bearing.
