Planning on installing the Spohn torque arm I bought off Sean this weekend. I see it's adjustable - aside from finding Spohn's install instructions, is there anything I should know for how to install the torque arm or how to adjust it?

get a magnetic angle finder so you can set the pinion angle, which way you set it is totally up to you.Doing less with more

problem is people will argue that you need to measure driveline angle and use that. With a drag oriented car you prob care less about any vibrations from having the angle off during regular driving and more about having it properly aligned when launching the car. also is dependant on whats on the torque arm, clamshell mount, poly bushings, or stiff heim.Originally posted by c0ncEpT View PostIts pretty straight forward. There is a large debate on setting pinion angle. I have had good success by putting the angle finder on the pinion and turning it down to -2 degrees.Doing less with more

There was some discussion on this topic a few pages back in my build thread brian. Also the bracket on aftermarket torque arms is damned close to the tunnel, you may want to take grinder to it and gain yourself some clearance like i did.-Joel

My UMI torque arm is very close the the tunnel since my IROC is lowered a good amount, close enought that I had to remove the bolt that holds the lines in. I'm going to play will the panhard adjustment this spring to see if I can get a better fit.
Also, my aluminum driveshaft didn't like the DS loop. I had to bend the arm to center the loop with the driveshaft

Are the angle finders readily available at Autozone/Murrays/O'Reilly etc or is that something I should be ordering from Summit right now so I have it by the weekend?- Brian Meissen

I got mine at o'reilly, nothing fancy. the digital ones are kinda cool though and take any guesswork out of the readings as it takes a while for the needle to stop moving once attached and can be hard to read with low light.Doing less with more

Yeah, this is the one you really want:

I was pulling my hair out trying to rear the analog ones accurately when you have your head shoved under a dirty car in some awkward position. Yes, a lot pricier than the normal ones, but still not that expensive really. And SO much easier to read.

I use a craftsman digital.
Setting the pinion down 2* to start with should get you in the ball park with a 10 bolt, with a 9" the driveline angle ends up being extremely off.
It might take a few test drives to get it where you want and vibration free.2000 Formula

So for my lowered 10 bolt 2* would be good? How would I know if it's "off" ?- Brian Meissen
