  • Bump stop ???

I just noticed today I have, at best, 1" between the top of the axle tube and the bumpstop.. What is normal? I did the heater hose mod to lower the car after doing the rear end swap and happened to notice this today..

seems like you should have more.

with my car lowered it has about an inch or so as well. I shaved my bump stops to gain a little.

With people in the car it is even worse...

No spacers that I know of. Never hit them until I did the swap and heater hose mod..

Cars that came with 17's have an alum block between the body and bounce bumper. About 1/2" or so

Really? Someone put them on my car before I bought them. I seen them and took them off, figured it was the previous owner 'rigging something goofy.

You guys just reminded me that I need to stick something in there. During the rebuild, I had removed the trash that was in there and had never replaced them yet.

Seriously bumps tops???? My opinion on bumpsrops is of its working like it should you should never hit bumpstops.

Were building a mud trick with 16" travel shocks and I hate bump stops but we're running them(what the customer wants) but I would if it was me. Seriously what's Gunna happen if you bend a shock? Not much gotta replace a shock wooptee ****. We pay aekybf 500$ a coilover for our mud trucks we build.

Maid say cut the bumpstops off and never worry again. You'll be fine!! Not like that little ls1 can do much anyways!! Lol

I have a feeling a bump stop in the FBody world is much different than what you're talking about... In the FBody world, it's just a rubber bumper that bolts to the body above the rear end so the axle isn't banging into the body if you hit a bump. I don't know where you're coming from on the "little LS1" or nitrogen bumpstops since it's just a piece of rubber or polyurethane..

That said, it's very necessary for lowered FBodies. Without mine installed, I was banging all over the place... I got Jeep polyurethane bumpstops and that made the ride much better.
