      I did in fact, think of doing that. It was my original plan. However, after welding these up I realized that plating the inboard wall would be way overkill and probably just add unwanted weight. Good eye!

          Go ahead and change the u in the second sentence to an I if you want to...

          Anyhow, welding the inboard side of the tube with plate may have also caused a chance for a pocket to hold water, thus resulting in possible corrosion years later (although the car's kept so clean it wouldn't be an issue). Another point to look at.

          Used to own a Firebird.
