what ever you don.. don't go to Discount tire in Grandledge... what a bunch of morons.. i go there to have them roadforce balance my tires and they put the weights on the inside lip of the rim... idiots....then the dumbass kid backing the card up didn't realize that you actually had to use the clutch pedal and could see him physically trying to muscle it into gear... then when he did finally get it in gear, after i told him to use the clutch, he stalls it like 3 times....wtf? That and the managers there don't have a damn clue... i asked them for a dunlop tire.. and the douche says oh..uh...yeah dunlop doesn't make tires anymore. I was like what planet do you come from... i can go to belle tire across the street and buy them all day long? lol :facepalm

Don't have to worry about that as the car is currently under the knife. I will bring wheels (and maybe tires - got a good price on Tirerack) to whoever is going to assemble them. You can bet your ass, I will be 'supervising' the install process...

Oh well, don't need them for awhile yet, but do need to hook up the wife's Camry on all four corners before the snow flies. Lol, one rear tire was as much as a complete set for her's! Cars suck...

Yikes, I feel bad for whoever you bring your tires to. Its not rocket science, any halfway legitimate place should be able to do it just fine. Have you had a horrible experience that you feel you cannot trust anyone? The Belle tire guy just told you 98 percent because mistakes happen, and they can happen to anyone regardless of how confident they are...

You could say trust its a issue...and yes, I've have been disappointed before. Rocket science? Nope. Agree 100% Derek, but you hear horror stories all the time and would prefer to avoid being a statistic. 8wks to get the wheels...don't want to wait another 8 when "tire jockey" slides a tire iron across the finish!! If I want them together, I'll have to trust someone and understand there is a margin of error in anything. Problem was the initial conversation with Belle was a little too casual for my comfort...no doubt they'll be capable and they have the right equipment. I'm a little particular and would prefer someone actually take a degree of pride in the work.

I hate people who want to supervise while you work on there car/car parts. Its part of the reason I withdrew volunteering. I like the quote of "If you don't do anything you can't do anything wrong".
A few months ago I swapped out some low profile tires for a customer and they turned out fine. The customer looked them over in his truck for 20 minutes! before he left! The $40s you made, almost isn't worth it if the customer is super anal.
But I understand you want someone who will take their time on mounting them up especially when they are expensive wheels, which is a good idea that you started this thread,

I certainly don't feel any sort of entitled "special service" because I'm running what I'm running, I hope that is not being conveyed. I'm not "anal"...just "particular", lol. Either way, I understand your feelings....having been in a service type industry myself, the one thing I hated was a PITA customer breathin down my neck. Came to realize though, if I was confident in my ability to do the job it didn't matter how long they hovered over me. It got done, I got paid...GTFO! Good policy, IMO.... I would expect anyone else doing a service for me to do the same.

If some turd with no business behind the counter selling that service says, "I think I can assemble your wheels/tires with minimal damage (98% success rate or not!!!)...." regardless of the price tag, they should take up a new location out back counting tires....agreed? I appreciate full disclosure, but damn....

Part 1, Correct I am not sure if our balancer will fit an 11 inch wide rim. The biggest I have done was 9.5 and it was close to rubbing the machine. It depends on the offset as well (Or we don't have the spacer to space the wheel out)

I would say it could be a little un-nerving having someone hover and be "anal"... but the experiences I've have driven me to being that way. Many of the people I've seen running tire & wheel equipment have not been properly trained, nor do they care for logic. They have no clue about machine calibration or maintenance. I figure that I'm paying good money and if I see something wrong I can point it out before I get all the way home and have to go back. The older I get, the more "anal" I get... 'cuz I hate getting burned by idiots and poor work!!! For whatever work I "HAVE TO" get done, if I've never met the person, you bet I'll keep a sharp eye.

That said, I've used Braden Tire in Bad Axe, MI when I had tires put on my new Z06 wheels. (based on my Uncle's recommendation) The owner personally took care of me and had me check everything out as he went a long... super careful. I would not hesitate to leave stuff with him and not give them more than a quick once over when I go back to get them.
