  • How hard to redo 5 spoke SS wheels

I found a set a guy is loking to trade off and I got some pictures. The rims as far as rash seems pretty good however they paint is whiped on the rims themselves. How hard would it be to strip them and respray them? Anyone know of anyone who can do a quality job at a reasonable price?
Here's a sig with my old ride: (Everyone else has a cool sig I had to do something!)

You cant strip them, they need to be blasted. The factory primer on wheels is ridiculously tough.

So I should be able to get them media blasted and then get them powder coated?

What do you mean by media? Media usually refers to softer material like glass bead or walnut, I HIGHLY doubt thats going to do anything for the primer on those. Ive had an easier time getting powerdercoat off. Sand is probably the only thing that will take it off, and even then it was a slow process for me.

Media is any particulate shot or drawn out of a nozzle/orifice for purpose of surface treatment. It can be steel, glass, alox, corn, walnut, soda, ceramic, plastic.....

Good luck trying to get anyone to blast those wheels for you! I have a set of 10 spokes that need paint and no one in the area and south of Saginaw will touch the wheels bc they are aluminum and they dont want the liability of warping them. So ive come to the conclusion that Im just going to sand them down as smooth as I can get them and paint them and clear coat them.

Really? I did my own, then talked to a complany that does powerdercoating and they said they have a guy that blasts all their stuff for them. There are people that will, you just cant blast at 300psi. I wouldnt run any more than 125 depending on what your shooting.

I've had two sets of aluminum rims blasted and PC'd.

                          Both turned out great.
