Technically this is true. The holes and slots reduce contact area between the brake pad and the rotor. But the pads make a bigger difference in stopping power.

And yes, I do know you can get regular one's too.

My car stops better with with that setup than it did with standard rotors.

I have sloted and drilled rotors all the way around with high end pads and I can stop on a dime.
I have cross drilled in the front with some carbon metallic pads. And the car stops a lot better than the stock set-up. But that has more to do with the pads than the rotors. The rotors are better though. I replaced the fronts after warping the stock set-up too many times. Have never warped these KVR rotors.

Yeah, my brakes squeal like a ***** too (usually), so this'll probably be good.

      Thanks for the input guys.

...really, now it depends on how much I wanna spend. I think I'll just go with some nice pads and check the rotors. I eventually will probably get larger rims, so maybe I'll wait till then to see what I can really do brake-wise.

I converted to LS1 barkes all the way around.....very good investment cause stock third gen brakes are marginal at best. I think I have about $600 into swapping them but I did all the machine work myself.

What machine work is involved - and won't it need bigger than 16" rims?

Nope all 98 and newer v6 cars got ls1 brakes, and came with 16's.

Ls1 brakes fine fine under stock IROC wheels.

You have to modify the spindles for a new bolt location and you have to cut a big chunck of cast iron off...then you have to modify the steering stop. You then have to make a set off hubs from an old set of stock rotors. Then you have to machine out some new caliper adapter plates....none of this is real hard if you have access to the proper equipment....if you don't then you gotta pay someone or buy a kit.

                  Yeah, the car doesn't shake.

I'm not sure I have access to the "proper" equipment (or I won't have it when I go to do this, probably in the summer), anyone know of any good kits?

you can still have warped rotors even if they don't shake.. these spots are another indicator. dont waste your time putting new pads on shitty rotors either like i did.

haha i was actually pointing at my stock decarbon shocks there, 130k miles on them currently.
the redstuff pads are great, but i needed to give them new rotors or at least turn the ones i had on there, but never did. since they were only like 80$ for fronts, i'm just going to buy new ones again with new rotors.

...I'm suprised I can't find any type of "swap" kit for the LS1 brakes.

I really don't have access to a machine shop, so yeah...

I'm probably gonna be the bastard child here, but look into the 1LE third gen brake setup.

Best stopping power I've seen on a Fbody, and you can change pads in 3 minutes...no joke...

                                Calipers are NOT cheap however...
