They do. Its fairly expensive, but mine have been going strong for a few years now and hopefully never strip.

Had a problem with alternators a few years ago. Found out it was the high rpms killing them. I have a slightly bigger pulley off of something LS now and have not had an issue since. Don't know if I was just getting junk ones that couldn't handle the stress or what, but one day they would just stop charging, they lasted about a week each. Since the different pulley I've had the same one for 2 or 3 years.

No idea if its related but I thought it couldn't hurt to share.

No codes.....first one from O'Reilly's. RPM may have killed that one....second one never got over 10 volts....had a few more amps than stocker. From a truck....identical but with a different rear cover. LS1 cover snapped in.

Pulley isn't the issue.....might just go OE.

LS alt quality is shit, I went through a ton on my Yukon and none of them even worked. Rebuilds or new. Rpm related or not, I just don't think the remans most places sell are up to snuff.

Dont you have some fancy shmancy chrome powermaster thing anyway?

I've had bad remans before, so the last one I got I had them test it before I bought it.

How do you get a new OE one?

I think they are like 50 bucks, and my thought to that is, if one plastic one lasted 100,000 miles, another plastic one should last me, and for 10 bucks instead of like 50. It's a pretty easy swap and if it does it again I may consider it, but being able to buy 5 plastic ones by the time i'd buy one brass one, ill stick with plastic lol.

Back in the day I would rebuild all my alternators. Now that I can get used ones from ebay for $10 less than the kit (and get a warranty) I just toss them in the corner and wait for a scrap run.
