  • [Project] 66 Chevy II

Okay, so this is going to serve as my "build" or "restore" thread. My vision for this car will likely take years considering my lack of time and money but it WILL GET DONE!

Long story short this car was basically a gift from my father-in-law. This is pretty much the car I've always wanted! She was built as a v6 Sedan but currently has a 327 that is "seized."

First things first... Motor comes out and disassembled to see what's going on with it. Hopefully just refresh the motor and stuff it back under the hood. Clean/paint engine bay while motor is out. It's got headers and full exhaust already.

I'm going to pull out the interior and probably run bare bones until I can replace what needs to be replaced. I'll likely recover the rear and replace the front seats with some lowbacks (rears original, fronts not so much).

Unless something miraculous happens between now and spring I'll probably be rocking the "patina" paint job. I'll replace all of the weather strips and put the back window in (currently sitting in the back seat).

The body on this thing is amazing and very solid. I'll try to get some underbody shots tomorrow before I drain the fluids and pull her off the trailer and into my confined working space!

My dad always wanted one of these. One day I'll build one for him.

Great car. Can't wait to see it progress!

nice looking car! cant wait to see this build come together.

ps, good to see Im not the only one using a single strap for the front and single for the rear. I know they are good for 12k lbs though.

                  Sweet more classics!

Pretty sure a Sedan is four door. A Sedan has a A B C pillar.

You're right but a sedan has to have a B pillar.

That Nova is definitely a 2 door sedan.

Always had a soft spot for the Chevy II

Edit: FYI, they made 4 door hardtops as well but not with the Nova

Slowly but surely! I have about 1 hour twice a week to work on this. Vacation time coming up in October that I'll be able to get a lot done.

Engine and Trans are ready to come out. I'm still real torn on what direction to take with the power plant. The 327 is seized so opening it up and seeing what's wrong with it might help dictate a direction. My other option is a 427 big block but I think I'd have to do some cutting. If this was an SS car or even a coupe I wouldn't consider cutting but a big block Chevy II would be fuuuuuuuun!

Of course, LSx is always in the back of my mind. I need to do wiring work anyways
