The big names probably never drag race either though, i do. I could use the back seat area since those are deleted but if i have the space in the quarter panel i dont see why not use it... But i will put it as far forward as possible.

Lithium batteries are only 2.5 lbs or so but they run closer to $300 and require a specific trickle charger.

Good point, I haven't decided where to relocate the battery yet as I have to factor in a few other things into the equation. I want to have a side exit exhaust that is quiet enough so it can be driven at Waterford Hills. An idea I had was to raise the passenger footwell so there would be more room to mount a muffler.

A lithium battery is neat but that's not in the budget at this time.

Also you must have a disconnect switch outside of the car if you plan on being legal. So you would have to run more wire if you want to put it in the floor wells which isn't that big a deal.

Also according to Motor Trend the 93 Z28 has a weight distribution of 56/44. (Front/Rear)
So it could stand to use some more weight in the back.

The real advantage of putting the battery on the floor boards unless you put in down in the middle of the trunk would be to keep the center of gravity low. Down where the T tops go.

50/50 is generally a good racing idea because if you have 50/50 front/rear 50/50 left/right that means the center of gravity will be perfectly in the center of the car and all 4 tires each have the same grip.

I will not be racing the car but I want to build it within the rules.

SCCA- "Relocation of the battery or batteries is permitted but not into the passenger compartment. Holes may be drilled for mounting or passage of cables. Longer cables may be substituted to permit relocation. The number of battery or batteries may not be changed from stock. The area behind the rearmost seat is not considered to be within the passenger compartment."

NHRA- "Batteries may not be relocated into the driver or passenger compartments. Rear firewall of .024-inch steel or .032-inch aluminum (including package tray) required when battery is relocated in trunk"

After reading that I will likely mount the battery in the trunk in a vented box. It will still be low and I will have more of reason to install a cut off switch.

I'd have to go back and look but possibly Street Touring. F-bodys aren't competitive there at all so I would think you would have to take it up to Street Prepared before you run into a good place to play. Neither class allows you to remove the rear seat so that automatically bumps you to Street Modified which at least has a street tire index. I decided to go CP as it has a better PAX than SM and you can remove/modify everything short of the frame rails.

Im quite sure my weight distribution is worse than 56/44 with all the stuff ive removed from the back of the car. Seats, exhaust, plastics, seatbelts, spare ture, jack.... Only noteable thing ive taken from the front is AC

My car is a street tire modified class. But i do autox for fun so i dont care if i come in last place. Id like to get a shifter kart and be competitive with that.

When I got my hand me down 89RS for my senior year..I found a burrito stuffed under the passenger seat. Very nasty, and was hard as shit.

Coming from my culture, I cannot say out of all the "food" to find, that I was shocked to see that haha.
