Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!

did the housing crack at all when you pressed the mechanical impeller out?
also is your new car a hardtop?
Yes the pump did crack right in the sleeve for the old pump right near the old weep hole but I pressed it back down and jb welded it. Ill txt you a pic I can't seem to get my phone to upload a pic to the site.
And sadly yes it is a hardtop, but I don't miss the t-tops just yet. I barely ever had my 1994 tops out and it makes the car stronger for track use.
Looks like you have a legit LT1 build. Body of the car looks clean, engine done right, and the correct transmission.
Who did the tune?
I believe that 110 lsa is standard because I just ordered it as it is offered on AI's site.
And thanks for the kind words Nate.
I had it tuned at a buddy of mines shop he has for a side job. He's got a barn with a performance shop out of it. He's got a dyno and all. His company is called Autosport Performance engineering. And it helps he had a 383 lt1 car that ran 10's.

Yes 110+4 is the out of the box grind for that cam, and it seems to work very well. I while remember researching the old comp cams before AI was around the tighter LSA grinds seemed to make more power.

Plus the added lopieness is a benefit to the ears
I've been super super happy with this cam overall. It makes great power. Even for me still having a base tune and stock rear gears it has good drivability and awesome low to mid end power. I'm hoping to have 4.10's here soon and then I will trailer it to the dyno for some finish tuning and some numbers!

Yeah i think my car would benefit a LOT from some 4.10s ... But i dont trust the 10 bolt to hold it... 9" or nothing here, my stock axle has been a champ no way im going to mess with it.
Ahhhhh, thats what the black thing is on the front of the motor. I wondered about that. Never saw a 'lectric water pump before. All these new fangled gadgets.......

Yeah i dont really want to mess with the 10 bolt either but $300 gear swap is more in my budget than a new rear end :/

Yes sir its a meziere pump that just goes in place of factory pump cover

IMO this is the logic that gets people into trouble... if you can't afford to do it right, you cant afford to do it wrong... break it.. and then do it right. 4.10s are a weaker gear set than a 3.42, and good luck matching factory gearlash precision.

I didnt know they were weaker :/ maybe i wont then i was only going to do it for the drivability and power increase, i know AI recomends the gear swap for this cam we have.

It's really not that bad to set them up, but a ton of shops get it wrong. If it isn't done right, just flush your time and money down the crapper.
Case in point - the rear in my newly acquired Z28 had new GM 3.73 gears installed. I'd say less than 20k miles before I bought it. Howls like a banshee.
Backlash is .007, mesh/wear looks great upon further inspection. Pretty sure pinion preload was not within spec and the bearings are shot. New Eaton diff and bearings went in with the gear set.
Also, the reason I love 3.42's is because they are a great all around gear set. 3.73's are nice, but generally the 4.10's don't hold up well with a decent amount of power and good tires.
its all about tooth count. 4.10 has 10 pinion teeth 3.42 has 12... 3.42s distribute the force better.
Edit: I also agree with AI that a 4.10 is the better gearset for this cam. It seems like if am going WOT at all, I am in second gear. First is worthless and i make it to third im already doing way over the speed limit. But that said, ive won some races holding peak torque in one gear from 40 all the way to 90

If you do step up the gear, get a rear cover that will increase fluid capacity. Everyone says they don't do much, but any bit of extra of capacity will help keep temps in check so the gear oil doesn't break down.
If you've ever seen a gear set that succumbed to oil fatigue, it isn't pretty Magnetic gray mud and razor sharp teeth!

I swear my TA girdle quieted down the clutch dumps in my car. While i cant prove anything, i believe they help. And to take it further the best thing you can do to a 10 bolt is add one of those and then gusset it to the axle tubes. If the housing cant flex, gears stay meshed, parts stay together. Edit: also helps to weld the axle tubes.
