nice build! if you want to run 40 style mufflers like that (Thats what I have) you pretty much have to smash the seat buckets up a little. its really soft metal and easy to do, plus there is an air cavity under the seat so you can pick up a good 3" of clearance without even affecting the back seats. You just have to be OK with taking a BFH to a perfectly good car

These pics show how much i clearanced it initially and i never had an issue with ground clearance. I scraped the mufflers I think one time in 3-4 years.

                http://joelrdevriendt.com/files/publ...5_camaro/duals

This winter, I BFH'd the seat buckets again and picked up another 3" of clearance. My mufflers are still hung in the same spot, but im planning to rework it and tuck them up a little more out of sight. Ultimately I want to cut the sheet metal out and weld some flat sheet in its place so it looks nicer.

if i get anything near the ground clearance you have ill be doing it for sure!
do you think if you had passengers in the rear if that would effect a lot?

Keep in mimd the car is parked on a curb in those pics so i could crawl under with the camera. Id say i had about a soda can on its side worth of clearance at the mufflers, i can measure it again for you but i am 3/4" lowered now. Still havent had any issues.

On another note, sounds like it'll be stout build. Would rethink the exhaust though. Are the tails run under the axle?

Look like over the axle tails but i doubt any of that setup other than the mufflers is going to be usable. Duals like mine, especially over the axle typically need to be a one off job because its a tight fit.

they are over the axel "i have a pipe bender at my house so i might be able to fab up a few better angles if possible"
i was just going to have them dump at the muffler most likely if it dont work out.

I can almost guarantee you would have an easier time building an exhaust from scratch than trying to re-bend an existing one.

I have to fully agree. These car suck when it comes to routing exhaust, especially duals. Regular pipe benders suck...unless you got a steal on a mandrel bender
