  • I'd stay with the 3.42's and just hit it with more smack.

Start with the shocks full loose and then tighten them until the 60' slows.

I'd want good shocks out back if you are going with a chassis mount torque arm - as it'll hit the tires really hard and you'll need to control the hit or it'll just spin.

Ditch the front bar with the qa1's adjusted tighter you won't even miss it.

When the car starts twisting at the launch - then it's time for an air bag or drag bar.

The TQ arm will be full length relocated though.
What shocks are good for the money and decent on the street?

      • a lot of people are liking the new Viking shocks. the whole kit which is double adjustable shocks, front and rear, springs, Torrington bearings, wrench and hardware kit is like 850 bucks. or like 350ish a pair for the rear. theyre 19 way adjustable on both the compression and rebound. also I would really put an anti roll bar on the car. BMR, UMI, both make good ones but are heavy, MWC, racecraft, wolfe are going to be hollow chromoly ones that are 15 lbs lighter and do the same job.

          • Call MWC and order some traverse shock mounts for your QA1's and switch out the bushings for bearings.

I should be able to dig out the part numbers for the bearings.

This will eliminate all shock binding in the rear, and reduce wear on the shocks.

Thanks for the advise, I need to order a D/S loop from them too.
Let me know the part numbers when/if you find them

              • Jerry - I'm 99% sure this is what I ordered.

I can't find the receipts or order info - maybe Larry will chime in I had him order the same ones.

                  • Transverse mounts and bearings ordered!

Also ordered some -6 AN and fittings to make some trans lines.

Talked to Steve, will be sending my pcm to him for a retune soon

Nope, not a fan of having my trans fluid and coolant that close together, I don't need one leaking into the other ever.
I never had a problem with my smaller cooler, it always stayed under 180 degrees even in stop and go at Woodward.
I just wanted one with -6 fittings

I've got a medium sized B&M one that's brand new if you're interested... Also It has the 2 (1/2npt) to 6an male/male fittings already in it ready to go..

                              • I have gotten a bit done recently.
                                Installed:

                                UMI torque arm
QA1 DA rear shocks with bearings
                                MWC transverse mounts

New trans cooler and AN lines

Removed the A/C, cruise control, evap, and front sway bar.

Will a stiffer rear sway bar help at all with racing? Like a 24mm from a 3rd gen?

Is there any easy way to disconnect the front bar at the track?
Will I notice much difference when street driving without it?

I need to have Steve retune my PCM soon, I have injectors and maybe gears to do as well.
