Car has now left me stranded twice, I'm done dealing with this motor. Time to yank it and find a LQ.

What's wrong with the motor that it's leaving you stranded?

It started fine this AM, drove to the store and then to the auto-x I was supposed to do today. Ran fine, smooth as it ever has. Got there and had to move the car and it would crank but not start. It's got spark, but it seems weak. Fuel pump is priming, but its getting no injector pulse.

No rain which is what left me on the side of the highway last time.

how complicated is the LS/LQ swap if i only need it to run, have lights, and gauges. i don't need any thing else. power steering, heat, radio, all that stuff is gone. i just want the car to go fast, no luxuries, no comforts, just go vroom.




after talking with some friends i think i'm going to pull the LT1 and sell it, a friend will sell me a carbed 355 for $500 and i can throw that in so i at least have something fun to drive all summer and save till winter and do the 5.3 or 6.0 swap.

so i'm wondering if the truck intake manifold would fit in my car if i cut the cowl. i already have the wipers out and a cowl hood, so both of those are not issues, and i've been reading that the truck manifolds flow better than any LS intakes. anyone know if it's just not possible at all or if i could if i shaved the top of the intake (remove the mounts for the cover and anything else that sticks up higher than needed) and cut the cowl to fit.

Not only will you likely never make it fit right, they really dont flow all that well anyway. LS6 manifold outflows it easily.

From my little research, I found people saying that the truck manifolds flow better than LS6 though by a small amount (and moves the power band down the RPM range), so If I could avoid paying hundreds for a manifold that flows worse or the same I would, but it sounds like even with cutting its just too tall too far back. So my search continues for a cheap LS1 setup.

i don't have many good pics of them unfortunately, but here are a few. if your interested i can get more tonight. the lips are currently plasti-dipped black, but it'll take me 20 min to peel them all off if you want. i'd like to get $550 for the wheels/toyos Proxes RA1s, and for $700 i'll throw in a set of Goodyear eagle F1s with 60% tread too.
