I have some stock ones that I bought from Matt (I think) because these Spohn ones moved the wheels 1/2" towards the rear and caused them to rub

That would affect the caster negatively. I would rather see it 1/2" forward to obtain positive caster, for better directional feel and steering wheel return ability

Yes I will be doing the body work and paint.

When I removed the rear bumper cover I noticed the bumper support was no longer riveted to the impact bar and the impact bar was loose. A big Thanks to Big Jon or supplying me with a nice impact bar assembly. While everything was apart I washed some of the crude and dirt out. 002.JPG
I just set the bumper cover on the car is it already looks like a $600 car!007.JPG

Which brings up the next question. rear spoiler... It weighs 5 lbs, I would like to remove 5 lbs from the rear hatch, aerodynamically might be worse without a spoiler. asetecally? I know a handful of 3rd gen California cars did not have any form of a spoiler.

I would leave the spoiler. Its 5 pounds but its 5 pounds BEHIND the rear wheels, which is probably the best spot for it to be. Cut those nasty exhaust tips off and youll probably lose about the same!

-OR- you could make a plexi-glass spoiler like the ICE9 IROC

By the way, did it come with that Grant steering wheel? That probably cost half of what you paid for the car

I just want the wheels to stop rubbing! Spohn denies that they sent out a bad batch of a arms, quite a few people have the same problem. They won't even respond to my emails about them.

                        Thanks for the input Joel.
-I am still torn on what to do but it will be a month or two before any paint is applied. I am also considering relocating the battery to the spare tire well/ or trunk to help with weight distribution.
-Most of the exhaust system will be removed this weekend. I plan to have the exhaust exit in front of the rear wheels or passenger rocker like ICE9 to save a few lbs.
-I agree with You and Nate, the ICE9 car is perfect. I would like to emulate some of his car, but I hope my total investment(at this stage) will be less that the cost of his engine.

That is the idea! So far I am enjoying working on it. I look forward to taking it to road courses/autoX events, and learning how to drive better and what modifications helped most, or what alignment, tire pressure worked best.

I plan to use the 305 for now but the transmission will be rebuilt. But don't be surprised if it gets a heart transplant down the road.

If it were me, I'd keep it as stock as possible for the first time out and make adjustments after you get a solid baseline. I had a blast with my car at the Bikers for Babies autox this past summer, ran within a second of LS cars(Wade!). I'm looking forward to next spring already. Mid-corner throttle lift worked great to rotate the car, otherwise it'd just plow through the corner.

I agree!, I wish I had the opportunity to establish a baseline but priorities for this project over winter are... SAFETY, fix leaks, repair dents- paint different color, and weight reduction. I have a goal weight of 2900 lbs. Then after I get some seat time I will decide on seats, brakes, shocks, which cage/harness bar, sub frame connectors, strut brace etc

                                I agree.

Take note, Brian. I will not put any more of their product on my cars.
