Been a long time but i suppose i should update. Unfortunately money and time didn't permit much of anything to get done to the car over the fall, however that has changed and i do fully intend on having the car driving for the summer. As far as progress, not much to report other than i do now have longtubes for it. Many more pieces still needed, the main ones being a trans, front brakes, driveshaft in order to get the car in driving condition. For the many that seem to know this car, i can assure you that is not going to end up as another project that just sits in the garage an goes no where.
Few questions on a trans. I had been debating putting a 6-speed back in for the street fun, but now i think i'm pretty set on going to the auto route. The car is a weekend toy, not a daily driver, and since it will probably see an increasing amount of track time the further the project progresses i think stalled auto is definitely the way to go. 4L60/80 would require a new wiring harness and a a re-tune (and more expensive) so TH350/400 it is. Leaning on the 350 as the 400 is a little overkill for the current setup and is just added expense and rotating mass. So, i want to make sure i get everything i'll need.
BMR Cross Member/torque arm relocation (or similar)
Dipstick
Longshaft th350
Stock driveshaft. I hear the stock ds works with a longshaft 350, stock m6 driveshaft or stock a4?
Flex plate. Stock flexplate works correct?
TH350 Torque Converter
VSS. What do i do about getting the speedo to work correctly?
Anything i'm missing?

Nice looking project!
My TA is a 93 also....late build, Aug. of 93 so it's a bit of a bastard cause it's cross between a 93 & 94
See my cardomain in my sig for details
As far as the pics in the last post the Brown 2 prong plug is your reverse lights and the others are reverse lock out and speed sensor but I can check for ya cause my harness is out of my car right now along with a lot of other stuff
I have had my motor out of my car 10 times since I bought it in 1999 and every time I pulled and set it from the top.
You want the motor mounts off the block to do this but goes in nice.
The engine goes in on almost a 45* angle but once the balancer is in she will level out.
Now when I pulled it from the bottom this last time it was a bit freaky but went good and I did have help.
I have a step all the way around in my garage so I made use of it.
I made sure the rear bumper was the made some boards to rest up against the ledge to my tires so the car didn't roll back on me.
Supported the Trans with a jack and used a Tranny jack on the motor/cradle and unbolted the shocks, break lines, K-Member, Exhaust, Trans cross member, engine/trans harness and shifter and hooked a strap around the center Radiator support and hooked my engine lift on to it lifted the car by that brace till it was high enough to roll the motor out.
I had a 6speed with a 383 in mine till 2 years ago so I have a LOT of 93 PCM stuff like the PCM, chip burners, chips, piggy backs and more that I don't need if your interested shoot me a PM.

I don't know much about doing a TH350 (I'm doing a TH400) but if you PM prorac1 he can tell you cause he did it to one of his.Originally posted by Rob93ta View PostBeen a long time but i suppose i should update. Stock flex plate is fine but if you are planing on track duty I would go and get a SFI Flex plate, no doubt.
To get the speedo to work I would call Dakota Digital, they sell a converter that hooks to where the speedo cable would and converts the signal to your speedo.
What are you going to do for a shifter?
Hope that helps, everything else looks like you are good.

So I'll revive this only because many people were interested in following the car.
As much as I intended on fixing this car up (everyone always has intentions of finishing the project I guess) it never really got off the ground. Despite having sourced an engine and trans, they never did make it into the car. The car has sat basically the way it is in the pictures I originally posted. Life happens, and eventually I began to lose interest and was getting tired of not having a running driving car and realizing how much work was ahead for this car.
So, instead of continuing with this car, I recently bought another. One that is in excellent shape and will allow me to build it how I want without starting completely from scrstch like this one. I'll start a new thread for that but here is a teaser.

As for the 93, I will probably take a few things I want from it and then sell it like I bought it, as a roller. On the bright side, by sitting on it for 3 years it's been 3 years of no wear for the car.

Sure thing. A friend of my dads expressed interest in it for a father/son project so I'll probably check if he wants it first. Not really sure how serious he was about it. If not I'll gladly give you first shot.
