Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!
If you have any problems with the registration process or your account login, please contact us!
The only thing that wasn't working electrical-wise was the factory tach. The monster tach on the dash does work though. That was like that when I bought it, not sure if the tach was installed because the factory one didn't work, or if installing it caused the factory tach to not work. I was hoping that it was a wiring issue in the engine harness and since I was having the engine harness refurbished I was going to wait to figure that problem out when the car was running again.
Everything else works best I remember. Not sure on the fog lights, never messed with them.
I'm 99.9% sure I still have the ECM. I can picture where I have it, I'll try and check tomorrow to be sure.
Also, how's the steering wheel? The one it came with was worn on top. I had a nice replacement out of my 94 formula for it, can't remember if I gave it away with this car or not. I think I did, hopefully it's on there now. If not and I still have it, it's all yours.
I'd be happy to call or meet up sometime to discuss if you want.
The steering wheel is worn like you say, but the other steering wheel along with some misc. interior trim pieces are in the hatch.
As for the console, didn't realize it was an LS1 console but sounds like that's a good thing! lol
Also, I have a spare headliner that you can have if you want. It's not perfect, but it's not bad. Definitely on par with the rest of the interior in that car. It's from my 94 formula and I intended to use it for the car you now have.

I absolutely would like to have it! One less thing i have to track down lol. PM me your number and i'll give you a call to come pick that up sometime as well as maybe hear a little more about the car. Really appreciate it, and the info you have provided.
As for progress today, i got the engine bay painted finally. Paint is still a little wet, but it looks 100% better.
This camera isn't as good as my other one but you get the idea, before and after shots. 20120807182636875.jpg20120807183231367.jpg20120807185353263.jpg
Radiator cover isn't bent by the way, just loosened it up to get paper/tape in there to block the radiator.
Hey sorry I haven't been able to get you info yet, last week has sucked. If you don't mind I would like to help somehow with you project, this car has taken on a bigger meaning then you might understand now and I would love to see it return to its glory and I'm sure there may be another member or two who might feel the same.
Appreciate all the interest in everyone wanting to help with the car, and that can definitely be arranged. This is my first f-body, so help getting this thing all back together would be great, especially when i get to installing the engine/trans.
On that note, quite a bit of an update. I was able to source a complete engine, accessories, wiring harness, pcm and all. This engine should look familiar to some of you. 20120819193432450.jpg
For those that don't recognize it, it's boost addicts engine. 355, dart heads, 847 cam, etc. More info on the specifics could be found in his for sale thread if anyone is curious. Talked him into including the PCM, wiring harness, and engine accessories to try to make for as much of a plug and play package as possible. Cleaned it up a bit today and took some tape and marked up where all of the connections on the wiring harness go to, well almost. The picture i found showed the wiring harness of a 95 A4, this wiring harness is a 95 M6, so i'm assuming most of the connections i couldn't identify are transmission related, but i did not see the EVAP solenoid on mine that i did on the A4, so that could perhaps be one of the unidentified connections. If anyone could point out where these unmarked ones go that would be very helpful. In the first pic, if you look on the bottom right you can see the ones unmarked, the second pic is close up with them bunched together. 20120819192955341.jpg 2012081919383733.jpg
Next on the list of the things to do is figure out what to do about a transmission. Easiest thing to do i suppose would be a T56 as i already have a 6 speed wiring harness and the car is already tuned for a 6 speed, but i'm still heavily leaning toward an auto. TH350 would be a relatively cheap and simple route since i could keep the 6 speed tune and since it isn't electronic the wiring harness would not be an issue. These are also pretty cheap to build. Downside here is the obvious lack of overdrive in a street car. Car won't see much freeway time, but i still may miss the overdrive. 700R4 is another option but i hear mixed opinions on its strength, and not entirely sure what all would be needed to hook one of these up, is the 6 speed harness useable with this? 4L60E would be ok also, but this would require a new wiring harness. Money and difficulty not a factor, i'd go 4L80E, but i think this is out for this build at least. Right now i'm leaning toward TH350 for simplicity and the fact that it is just a weekend car, but the lack of overdrive has me a little hung up here. Any opinions and/or info on this would be appreciated. Planning on going with about a 3400 stall as this seems to be a good fit for the 847 cam.
Also, if anyone has done an engine install in one of these i'd like to hear any tips as well. I know through the bottom is the easier way, but i don't have a hoist so i'm curious how those who have done it without one have went about doing it. I've done plenty of research on it, just figured some first hand experience from you guys would be good, too. When i do get to the point where i'm ready to do the install, anyone who would like to help is more than welcome to do so, and it would be appreciated.
@birdie, i haven't forgotten about the headliner lol
