fiberglass is nice, cutsom look for interior. I would also use it in your rear quarter fix too as the base, cause the fiberglass is waterproof, light and stronger then bondo and screen.

I really thought about getting the bondo glass.......I think I should have. Last time I used it, to mold in a fiberglass body kit to a metal car, it worked great. Still hold to this day 5 years later. Most of the molding even held a roll over accident. I decided against it this time around, seeing I wasnt working with any fiberglass.
I might just get some for one last coat, in the worst areas. Thanks for the advice.

I think an interior with matching polyurethane paint as the exterior would be pretty nice for this project. A layer of fiberglass, some sanding and a matching paintjob. I like the sound of that, plus I get to try something new- fiberglassing interiors.
Already I have dove in head first into a project I know is out of my range of knowlege and skill, but have a feeling, with some time and help (online and the couple freinds and family I know I can count on to help) I know this will take form and probly come out better than I expected from the begining.
I stopped in at my father in-laws, whos garage my car is in where I go to work on it, and have found that he did some finish sanding and got a pretty good amount of priming on the rear of the car. Trunk and top half of the rear panels are done. Looks better than I could have hoped. He talked me into grabbing this car, and has been my go to guy, and has steered me in the right directions and kept me on track to get it done right. Hes been a great help. He has shown me everything I have learned about body work and paint. Couldnt ask for a better father in-law, thats for sure. Not to mention- his '79 is a pretty good inspiration itself, to try to do a better job on things than I might have just done myself. If it wasnt for him, I might have just spray painted this car, and filled holes with spray foam- lol!
Hopefully he will post some pics of his car, one of these days......I know hes joined the site- but he hasnt posted yet.....

Was hoping the bondo on the rear was done and i could prime it- but there were a couple low spots, so-
I put the first layer of filler on the rest of the car, not including the front bumper, wing or the scoop, and filled the rear of the car for hopefully the last time.

Hit every scratch, dent, ding and imperfection I could find. Getting that much closer to paint!

I am glad to see this project will be done with less than a gallon of bondo!!! I was originally concerned I would need more.
All in all, after all I have sanded off, I will have just a little more than 1/2 a gallon left on the body. I can live with that for now. There were 2 holes in particular that took up a good amount of bondo.

Bad news......
Drove the F-150 to Owasso to pick up the motor. Everything was going as planned. And just as I went to start the truck, to back it up and drop the engine off the cherry picker-
Truck decided to protest, and went on strike. Guess it didnt like the idea of having a chevy smallblock in the back of the ford truck and made its fuel pump stop working.Funny- I have heard similar stories time and time again. Guess you just shouldnt use one car companys named car to pick up another companies engine. Just asking for something to refuse and break down....
Truck and engine are still in Owasso- but I am home. Hope to go back and get the truck fixed and home tommorow.
As of now- I know the truck (fuel injected) isnt getting gas. I am guessing its the fuel pump.

Go the truck and engine home- was the fuel pump.
The good-
Carb looks good
Intake looks alright
Harmonic balancer spins pretty easily w/o any kind of noise, grinding or knocks
Flywheel is there
Pretty clean
The bad-
No water pump
No starter
Valve covers arent the prettiest
Needs Valve cover gaskets redone
Harmonic balancer is a bit dented
The block and heads has been painted YELLOW.....and is chipping.....
And not possitive its a 305 HO. Its a 305 GM motorfor sure- but need to run some numbers for specifics.
Looks like I got a bunch of numbers to look up- not to mention need to figure out what numbers are what and where they are located......got some searching to do tonight.
