Well only reason I got the adjustable p.h.b was because I plan on lowering eventually and will need it.

The STB, meh...seems more like engine bay goodie if anything.

Called all 3 auto stores and they have to special order the gear rtv.

When looking on ls1tech, alot of people are using black rtv and red rtv. Went to permatex website and they never listed anything about the black/red being able to use with gear oil. But they seem to hold up just fine

The black RTV does mention differential covers, so I will probably go exchange it for black.

These are two mods I have debated on doing on and off for years... what kind of difference did you notice with them, if any? I'll admit I didn't read all 14 pages to see if you installed them yet

With my car i've noticed a big differance with the way the car handles in braking and when accelerating hard around a corner. the car seem more stable and the body doesnt flex as much of a launch. i didnt get an adjustable panhard mine is solid.

Just picked up the black RTV, Valvoline 75-90 sythentic..probably will have to wait until tomorrow to do it. I have a tiny jack and it will not jack up the rear for me to utilize my jackstands enough...

So tomorrow my buddy is suppose to remember to bring his jack into town later..hopefully he remembers.


Also a new PCV valve.

Will be getting started in about 1 hour..should anything be applied to the bolts so nothing leaks from them?

Or I should be fine with just laying the black ATV on the cover,and on the housing? Or is only the cover necessary.

make sure they are both clean, it will prob take a while for the old fluid to stop leaking completely some brake clean works well for this. You can apply to just the cover and stay within the bolt holes and you should be fine.

Let it dry for a day or two before you dump the new oil in. And like Jeff said, soak that thing with a can of brake clean

awesome guys. Thanks. Was a ***** to unbend to get the bottom bolt out. Finally got it out and its currently draining. Here is a pic of the magnet

Got the RTV on, cover is on. Going to let it sit until tomorrow morning-noonish to fill it. Probably when I drop Antonio off at school at 12:30..

When I put the cover on, maybe smeared it towards the top so we will see tomorrow. Had a little trouble finding the hole (no pun intended )

I did do the best I could to bend back the bottom of the cover where it was bent. When the cover was on and tighten down there was still a small drip..very very small so the RTV should hold up in that spot.

My nose does not like the smell of gear oil!

Didn't notice anything leaking where the cover was bent 'yet' (knock on wood)

So Camaro is off jackstands, back outside, and awaits a car wash,polish, insurance.

Wanted to be ready by Monday but I'll wait 1 more week at the most.

Agreed. It may be the only automotive related smell that has made me want to vomit.
