West Sider Install Help

Thanks guys, I could use all the help I can get. Dan, I am between 56th and 60th in a subdivion north of Lake Michigan Drive. All the exhaust is off, torque arm off and driveshaft out. I will drop you guys a note. Looks like as of now I will have Saturday, Sunday and Monday off. I think I have all the tools needed, however it wouldn't hurt to bring what you know will be needed just in case.

if anyone goes over and helps make sure you take a 18.5 wrench for the trans lines..... WTF!!! and ALLEN KEYS FOR THE CONVERTER!!!! WTF!!!!


any insight would be great guys. we pulled the trans no issues pulled the stock converter and went to install the new stall and could not get it to drop and click twice like its supposed to. we both tried everything i could all my help lines and couldnt find anything. my old man gave me an idea to try the old converter back on and that would narrow the issue down to the new converter. and the stock converter dropped back down with no issue at all. but neither of us can get the new stall on there. anybody have any advice or anything? if the converter can be back in by wed or thursday i can put the trans back in, in about an hour or so, so if we can get the trans back together by thursday night greg should be up and running to have her at the M&G ANY ADVICE ANYONE???

converter should have come with new bolts right? so no need for an allen anymore? if the stock converter will go back in correctly but the stall wont, id have to think the stall is wrong. look at the hub on each converter and make sure they measure the same in different spots. and with having so many issues with the stall id now replace that front seal once you figure it out. was supposed to make it down to help but plans have been interrupted and changed and with the weather nothing is going as planned. pics??

im not sure what hes gonna do mike. i told him he should just call FLT monday or run to a trans shop with the stall and the trans and see if they can take a little further loo then we can. they have all the proper tools and all. i mean overall they look the same and everything but obviously they arent the same lol

nothing is going to be open tomorrow and most likely everyone will that much busier the rest of the week. gonna be close. are you spinning and wiggling the converter when trying to seat it? i know dumb question but i must ask.

yea ive done dozens of trans swaps i called my old man and buddy (works at a trans shop) and nothing we couldnt figure anything out im thinking either the stall is Muffed up. or the splines on the trans are slightly twisted and the stock is twisted with it. thats the only 2 things i could think owuld be wrong

Thanks Dave, I really appreciate your help with this nightmare. I'll contact FTI Tuesday to see what I should do and let you know. No, I didn't mess with it anymore, kinda bummed right now.

i hear ya man. just make sure you keep that 18.5 wrench seperate so we know which one!!! lol. but yea give them a call and see what can happen and let me know well figure out a day like i said im off wed/thur im really hoping to be busy wed night driving across state to get a motor but if not im local so i can be over in about 20 min now i know where your at lol

hahahah not really just out to help someone out. the worse part is i leave your house get half way through and my truck shuts off. so i think its the fuel filter acting up since ive had the pump in and out quite a bit the last couple days. figuring just a bunch of debris in there let it sit for a few minutes ( it was spitting and sputtering on the way over) and still nothing. so i pull the line off before the fuel filter and have no fuel being pumped. so i have to pay 85 bucks to get my truck towed back home and now ive Fing given up im either gonna get a loan from the CG and pay a shop to put in a new pump sending unit tank and all new lines. or say to hell with it buy a fuel cell throw it in the bed and say to hell with all GM and all their shit and run all my own. time to make calls tomorrow. so luckily your car is ready to roll and she can get fired up soon cant wait to hear the camaro get romping!!

Sorry to hear that about your truck, sounded okay when you left. Good luck with whatever you decide to do with it. I will definitely let you know when I get the Camaro fired up.

Still don't know Larry, there was nothing visual that was obvious, but that sucker would not drop in, not even the enough to engage the first set of splines. I'll give it a couple days shipping back to FTI and then I'll ask them if they saw anything with it.
