I didn't touch the K-memeber when I replaced my oil pan gasket. The trans was out and I removed the passenger side motor mount bolt and I used a jack to prop the motor to its side.

          fred, getting work done!

the boys, removing tough bolts.. . . .with kolins head in freds crotchal area

kolin, lubing my arm so i can get it all the way down in that oil pan with minimal damage

          yeah, he was excited

as it turns out, one of the lifters was stuck between the larger crank lobes (that is what theyre called, isnt it?) and the valley thingy needed to be dropped a bit.. . .. and i really was the only one able to fit back there to remove the nuts.. . . .this is the result.

but yes, all of the lifters are out!

Yup, Liz was key in all of this winning.

We already had the K-member dropped about an inch, then we unbolted the motor mounts and lifted the engine/trans about 3"

The first lifter was easy... just chillin in the oil pan. Got it through the front with a magnet
Second lifter was on the windage tray, liz grabbed it
Third and fourth were stuck in the rotating assembly and we had to turn the crank clockwise 1/2 rev or so, then back counterclockwise, then back clockwise a bit and the other 2 dropped onto the windage tray. One was easy, one was wedged wayyyyy back between the crank and the windage tray so we had to drop it. Nowai could I have fit my arms/hands to the nuts on the drivers side, thank God Liz was there!

Also, anyone with Pacesetter LTs... how did you install them? Driver side is being a PITA to get out (going to cut the EGR port off and weld it shut)

Easy, easy on the "going well"... we still have to put the entire motor back together. Right now we have a block and rotating assembly...

You might need to cut the casting tab off the block to get the drives side out Fred. Plus it has to be removed almost vertical meaning the car has to be jacked up pretty high.

Nice job Liz. My mom has pwned me a few times. I couldnt get a header bolt threaded in to save my life for about 20 minutes. She walks over and it goes right in. Sometimes it takes a womans touch.
