Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!

I would definitely sell the firebird. No point in having two cars serving the same purpose if you like one better than the other.
That's what I'm thinking. Unfortunately, with it not running currently, I don't think I'll get much out of it. I think I might make more off it by parting it out. . .
Pics of the damage will be posted as soon as I get a chance to take my camera over to where it's going to be worked on.

sounds like its going to be a lot of work to get it back into good shape. I'd keep an eye out for a solid body to swap the motor into personally. Good luck wither way I hope it doesn't fuel your constant automotive add for a month or two and then die off.
whats wrong with it? I'm looking to buy a cheap f-body around early/mid march for driver purposes.
I'll be taking all the upgraded parts off to be used on the Z28 (headers, line lock, stereo, subwoofers, strut tower brace, aftermarket gauges, etc.). Also, a few of the spark plug holes in the heads are stripped out (p.o. didn't use anti-seize, threads were stripped out of the heads), and it's not in the best shape as it sits. There is some rust on the quarter panels and on the driver's side strut tower, and I'm not sure about the condition of the floor pans. It's not in bad shape, but it's not in great shape. It is a driver, it would take a fair amount of work to take it to the next level.

Would it at least be driveable that I could get it home? When you are done swapping your parts over, PM me info/pics/price in the condition it sits.

I couldn't pass up the deal, and I know I come on here asking for opinions a lot, and often change my mind, but really, when have I lost enthusiasm for my Formula? I dumped $3k in aftermarket parts and replacement parts into it just last year. I found an opportunity to pick up a car with more than 50k fewer miles for dirt cheap, and jumped on it. I haven't decided what I'm going to do with the Formula yet, that's all still up in the air. I'm thinking of swapping the heads and taking it back to stock, and maybe giving it to my sister as a graduation present or something, like I said, there are a bunch of possibilities, I won't be making a decision on that until summer, since the Formula is buried in my driveway, and it's not going anywhere until the snow and ice melt away.

No. The last time I messed with it, I couldn't get a couple of the spark plugs to even stay in the heads. I'm thinking of replacing the heads on it, but if I do, the price will be adjusted to reflect that, since the car will be running and drivable. I had considered pulling the heads and heli-coiling them, but as you mentioned in that thread, I may find that I need a valve job done before I put them back on, so I was going to replace them with recently rebuilt heads that already had valve work done. I'll let you know what happens, it won't be for a couple months either way.

Ok well id be looknig to buy in a few weeks, so if its not until summer that won't work for me. It doesn't necessarily need to be drivable if the price is right. I could find a trailer
Nice find, I remember your camaro from fullthrottlev6.com.
Not knowing your experience with body work but If its your first time, I would not attempt to replace the rocker/quarter as a beginner. (Just my opnion)
Good Luck with which ever route you decide.

My Dad was an auto body tech for 25 years, I worked with him on cars he'd buy at auction to fix and sell, and when I was a little older (early teens), I would go help him out at the shop. He taught me everything I know. I wouldn't consider myself a professional, but at the same time, I wouldn't consider myself a beginner at all. Honestly, I am a little intimidated by the rocker replacement, but I have been doing some research online, and from what I've seen, it's a very straightforward cut and weld job, I just need to make sure that when I weld the replacement in that I triple-check EVERYTHING for clearances and start welding with the car resting on level ground, not on jackstands. I'm not going for perfection, I just want to get the car drivable and decent looking. It won't ever be perfect, it was tweaked hard enough in the accident that I will have a hard time getting it to that point on my own.
Not to mention, I'm not going to pay a body shop more than I paid for the car to replace the rockers and pull on the door pillar a little bit. It's just going to be a driver, I've never been a show car kind of guy.
Well, we did some work on the car today, and managed to get the drivers' door operating as it should. It was stuck out about 6", and the rocker panel was forced upward during the crash, so the door was being held closed by superfluous amounts of 100mph tape. We pulled the tape, broke out a 2x4 and a BFH, and got the rocker knocked down enough for the door to close and latch as it should. It's not perfect, the gap at the rear of the door is still too large for me to be happy with it, but at least I'm not climbing over the passenger seat anymore.
I brought my camera with me to snap some pictures, but forgot to check if there were batteries in the bag (there weren't any), so we're going to cruise up to Meijer and get a pack of batteries, and snap a few pictures. I just hope we can get it out of my buddies driveway, I've had to use the 4WD to get out with the Jeep lately. . .
The guy that painted my car replaced both rockers and painted them on a 97 buick for my neighbor cost 500.00. Just thought I would through that out there so you know cost when going to Junk yard

Upon further review of the damage, I believe I will be able to save the inner rocker on the driver's side, it's just going to take some physical persuasion to get it lined up where it needs to be. The outer rocker, however, is toast. I found a brand new replacement rocker for $55 though, so I will be placing the order soon, and after I get the door where I can be happy with it, I'll start working on replacing the outer rocker.
The quarter panel on the passenger side is still in decent shape, it's going to take some work as well, good thing I know my way around a body hammer and dolly pretty well. I will be working on that a bit as well, hopefully I can get it squared away before summer, and I'll paint everything that needs it before the Meet and Greet.
And now, for the moment you all have been waiting for. . . PICS ARE HERE! It needs a bath BADLY, the car is a total mess right now. I'm going to take it to a coin-op car wash tomorrow and spray some of the salt off of it, as well as to see how badly the t-tops leak since the accident. . .
