Weeelp got me a motor now. 350 4 bolt main and one piece rear main seal. It said it needed a little bit of a hone job on #7 cylinder but its actually on #8.The piston ring blew and started to scratch the cylinder and broke the bottom on the piston so itll need to be bored and honed quite a bit. Itll be a 355 and proabaly not gonna put it in my car because by the time ill be getting that done everyone will be running 10's so im still waiting for the guy with the IROC's 350. Im not expecting it right away though. Maybe late next week to be out, or the first week on feb. Anyone know a good machine shop that can bored and hone a block for cheap? Im debating about building it and selling it with no miles on it OR buy a 2nd car and put it in it. Itll be a while by then though.

Well got me another motor lol. The first one was just to build and have fun with. This motor that I got today is out of a 1987 Iroc. Its a 350 TPI with a "cheaterchip" super chip, ported throttle body, cam, and heads. Nothing much gonna be running about 320 hp

I wonder how that chip will work with a different set of cam/heads than stock.

            Used to own a Firebird.

                      Probably pretty damn well.

Super Chevy had 458 HP and 534 lb/ft out of their 383 L98. Stock heads with very minor port work, high-flow runners, siamesed plenums, a mild cam, headers and Fast XFI. And it made power all the way to 6k where they stopped the test. Never made less than 400 lb-ft anywhere.

TPI is definitely still a viable platform.

                            Yup

                            Optional on 87–92 Chevrolet Camaro & Pontiac Firebird models (rated at 225 hp (168 kW)-245 hp (183 kW) and 330 lb·ft (447 N·m)-345 lb·ft (468 N·m)) 1987 versions had 10 hp (7 kW) and 15 lb·ft (20 N·m) more thanks to 9.5:1 compression and a change to hydraulic roller camshaft.

Thats everything it comes with too. you basically summed it up in that little bit. It came complete from the oil pan to the intake and wiring harness to the master cylinder. I guess the motor had a mild cam(nothing crazy), heads, ported throttle body, and a super chip. The guy said it ran close to 320 when it was in. My dad went before and listened to it run and I guess it sounds pretty good. It sitting on the engine stand right now ready to be put in. If it starts getting nicer out were going to put it in and both of us get a week off work and drop the motor in by the end of this month or mid next. Sometime before I get it running again.

It was pretty nice cause literally everything came with the motor. He was scrapping the car so he was basically giving us everything that was a part on the engine at one point or close to the engine. Hell I even got 3 inch pipes all the way back, sway bar, stabilizer bar, tail lights, light bulbs for the blinkers, computer, and a lot more. I have to go back thursday and get more lol. The back of my moms traverse was filled with parts. That explains how much stuff we got with it
