Hey Darren, this car is a blast to drive. I don't know how I still have a liscense. (Knock on Wood!) The only other way I could run a motor like this would be on race gas. Which would be really cost prohibative. I paid $2.99 a gallon this morning for E85. If I remember right it's about 160-170 psi. I'm looking at a cam change this winter. If I do I'm looking at something with a tighter lsa that should do just that. Also the cam thats in it was picked for a low (10.5-1) compression motor. With the added compresion I can put more duration into it. Also, with the short stroke and light internals in this motor it really wants to rev, but the current cam is done by 6500. Bored at work, so I thought I would update this for the stuff I've changed over the winter. I don't think it would take much to kick this thing seriously into the mid to low 10's Naturally Aspirated with only 350 cubes. So it was time for more updates. At the end of last summer I started to get some oil pressure fluctuation which meant pulling the motor for inspection. Everything looked great. Problem was just as I thought. Broken pressure relief spring in the milidon pump. Picked up a Melling replacement. Great looking pump! Also put oil restrictors in it to make sure the mains stay properly fed. Big change is the new Shneider solid roller cam. It's .680" lift with plenty more duration and a tighter LSA. Also added comp tool steel retainers, new locks and some more port work.
Also picked up a new Pro-Form 950cfm carb to replace the old 800 Pro-Form. I will need to get this changed over to E-85. Hopefully I can transfer all of my old tune to the new carb to get me close.
Finally some legit drag wheels. 15 x 3.5 and 15 x 8 Weld Draglites are at the powdercoaters right now. last year I was able to knock off some 1.5sec 60ft times. But was hard to do it running a 26 x10 slick. Picked up some 28 x 10.5 MT stiff wall slicks that should make a big difference. Would love to see some sub 1.4sec 60 footers! Should hopefully be starting it up this weekend.
