if that cam carries to 6500 on an LS1 its going to carry just a little higher on the 5.3. but i agree with your choice, I bet the car would run really strong with that one.

And spencer, i think your car has undergone perhaps the most amazing transformation of any car on this site. I love everything youve done with it and to think that was a plain V6 car before....

Well, the only thing I can relate it to is my wifes truck with a 5.3......................and it top ends like a mofo. I believe it shifts at 5800 or 6000 rpm, and its still pullin. As a matter of fact, it dosent have crap for torque below 3000 rpm, lol. Ive always refered to it as a great car motor, not such a great truck motor, lol. Eric L

yep my dad has a 2002 Z71 and i completely agree. That sum***** lit em up and kicked sideways on me at a 20 roll and laid down 30 feet of rubber. They pull hard! and just like you say they beg to floored like a sports car. The thing thats different is the intake manifold, supposedly the truck manifolds are quite a bit better for making torque - but im not the expert on that. That manifold wont fit under an fbody cowl.

I looked all over for my dyno chart, must be on my other computer, it just falls on its face up top, but once it shifts and drops to around 4k it starts to pull really good again but around 5k, its out of steam.

            Ill post the chart tomorrow.

                Well those numbers sound familiar
El Toro's great, pulls like mean from ~2500 or 3000 all the way up to the rev limiter, which Phil set at 6700. But mind you I have a little more duration/two fifths of a liter.

I agree with working on that 60' thats what everybody needs to understand if you want good ETs at the track 90% of it in in the first few feet. A nice set of tires and good suspension pieces and that car would run 12s with your currents mods no doubt in my mind. If you want it to pull more up top, and I know that you do because I've seen that graph, then I'd cam the car for sure. That 224 for sale on here would be just as good of an option as any and probably cheaper as well

What did you use for the undercoating?

You should really invest in a set of DR's. You might trap how you want but unless you can knock your 60' down you wont see the ET you want

If your only goal is a 12.99 I'm sure a real tire and a 1.6x 60' will get you there.

Heres the graph, I actually have more power and substantially more torque @3500 than 6k.

                        run2..jpg

Ill probably get the 224 cam on here and be done with it.
Ill be getting a lid too joel, no worries, lol.

Can someone recommend a good DR? Would I be better off getting nittos or something for the back and using them everyday on my 17x9 wheels with the extra width or a stickier tire for my old chrome 5 spokes that are 16x8 and having a dedicated drag setup?

                          Wow. Sure must pickup quick.

I would not DD on drag radials...at what $300 apiece? their wear rating is only like 100. You'd probably be going through a pair a year.

Id go with a street and drag setup thats just me tho. That way you have the tires you need in the best of both worlds.

Thats what I thought darren. Need something for 16x8's then.

Also, it started hemoraging coolant everywhere earlier today...... Pulled the waterpump swapped out the POS felpro gaskets for new GM ones, and its better but still leaks like a siv, got it all apart AGAIN, and it appears the seal on the back of the pump is bad(atleast I hope thats it, its not leaking out of the weep hole, so Im out of ideas otherwise). Gonna pick up a new one tomorrow unless someone close has one just laying around that they want to get rid of cheap. Just how I wanted to start spending my tax return, it just came in todays mail, somehow the car must have heard me being excited about it and wanted to rain on my parade, literally....

The DR's your looking at must be made of gold for $300 a piece Vinny. I bought a brand new set of Nitto 555R's in the 245/50/16 flavor from discount for $260 all together. I drove on them for 10-15K and they still had like 60% tread and I sold them that way for $150. Tire pressure is key when running around the street with DR's. I only ended up running 23-24 PSI in mine and they wore nice and evenly.

With all that being said I would still just buy some 255/50/16 Mickey Thompson ET Steet Radials for your extra rims. They wont last as long as a Nitto but they will hook like a mother ****er.
