yea my dad was putting the motor together today. I have no idea on what the HP expectancy will be with this Vortec motor, it does have one hell of a nice High Rise intake though.

I have some motor info now. Its an older block, 2 piece rear main seal, 194 Vortec heads, dual springs, stock push rods and lifters, stock bottom end except for cam, double roller timing chain, i have a high rise intake, unknown brand and it says made in China, mallory distributor, accel wires, summit shorty headers, and to top it all of, a 750 cfm Holley Double pumper.

That intake is a brand called Professional products IIRC. I had a friend with one, the port work looked pretty decent in it. Do you have any casting numbers on the heads by chance. I can look them up for you. Eric L

i don't have them on hand but i can check them tomorrow. I know the motor was assembled April 15th, 2010 so he drove the car to my place friday and then drove it around a couple of times since then. Now the motor is out of the car and the other block is being assembled. If all goes smoothly, he'll be on his way by Friday being the latest. The motor should be out of the camaro soon and then its putting the other motor in. My dad is going to buy a new Holley since the one is missing a couple pieces. So the IROC should be running again by the end of the month. I bought 3 Nitrous brand gauges from Harbor Freight, oil psi, water temp, and volts. Also order my tach bracket which should be here by or before Wednesday. Also bought front brake pads, which were $38. I seen in the computer at the auto store, a set of pads for like $110 and almost had a Heart Attack. Then they tried to sell me some economy pads for $10, i was like WTF?!?!?!?! I want the car to stop, more than one time lmfao

I just looked up Professional Products and that intake came up. Thanks for the info on it. It also sells for $238!

Yeah, professional products are a good entry level intake. They offer good performance and value. Yeah, let me know what the casting number is on the heads and block and ill look em up for ya. Eric L

Sweet, i just snagged 4 Impala SS rims for the Caprice for $175. Such a good deal since they are like $130 each new. Now we will have 6 of them

Started tearing everything out of the engine bay in the iroc. Almost have the motor out.

After looking inside the motor, from the bottom, it DOES NOT have stock pistons. They look fairly new and id say maybe brand new. They arent covered in oil gunk or anything, just shiney. I also grabbed some new pics of the motor while its out of the car. We spray bombed it black, and everything else is basically chrome.









Also got some new rims. They are 275/35/24's all the way around!



Lmao just kidding about the rims. Those are going on a friends friends car. UGLY

My friends kid said the funniest thing when we pulled up to my house, he said OH YEA were at the Hoopty house. He then got out of the car and said, this is the hoopty with rims, referring to my friends friends Grand Prix, he then called the IROC, the race car hoopty, and then called his dads monte carlo the Sideways hoopty, only because when he mashes the throttle it goes sideways. Fun day.

it was really funny coming out of is mouth though being he is a 5 year old. Im really wondering if this motor has a forged bottom end. When it was in the Monte, i went for a ride and the power it was making was incredible

well power will not show if it has a forged bottom end or not, but it might have other block stuff done or what not that you cannot see.. Glad things are going well..

For me anyways. The motor in the Monte has a lifter tick, and now has 20 psi for oil pressure. The first couple of days the Monte ran fine with damn near 100 oil psi, then yesterday it dropped. My friend ordered new lifters and hopefully that fixes that. It has a brand new high volume Melling oil pump and for some reason its not pumping oil. Thoughts?

Oh yea, pics of the new car tomorrow. Its an 04 Pontiac Grand Am GT with 111000 miles and power everything, leather, sun roof, monsoon system,tinted windows, and retarded clean.
