No, it's bolted right to the back of the y-pipe. . . I have some ideas for an exhaust setup I'd like to try out and post a poll up. . . I'll have to give them a shot once the weather gets nicer. I have an incomplete TD setup in the garage right now I might use, but instead of dumping out the back or before the axle, I'm seriously thinking about doing something that you don't see very often, and having the pipes kick out the side of the car in front of the rear tires. . . Just need to find a decent deal on some smaller mufflers that I can fit under the car, then I'll give it a shot. TD's may be loud, but I don't think they'll be quite as loud as the current setup with the cutout open, and as long as it sounds good, I shouldn't have any problems getting along with it. Plus, if I decide I don't like it, I can always put what I have now back on.

      • Just got caught up on the thread, looks like you're really coming along on the car Nick. Glad to read that Seafoaming the engine didn't have any negative effects, and that the noise you had was a simple fix. Keep up the good work!!!

I'm thinking about it. . . I don't want to dump them before the axle, because I don't want exhaust fumes coming into the car while I'm stuck in traffic. That's why I'm thinking side-exit. It would look pretty cool, I think. Especially if I can get my hands on some nice tips. I'll give it a shot this afternoon, see if I can find a pair of bullet mufflers or something.

If you could get it to fit, unless you would want it to look like a monster truck like mine I think you'd have to use oval tubing. Which would be pretty trick.

That's what I was thinking, either oval or rectangular tubing. Going to be interesting anyway, trying to fit mufflers under the lowest part of a lowered car. . .

Oh yeah, and I found out the hard way just how little ground clearance I actually have, I tried to go over a couple speed bumps at my old High School, and the car made a horrendous screeching noise as my undercarriage and exhaust system slowly dragged over them. . .

Let's just say I'm seriously looking into Air Ride now. . .

                • That's the reason I won't ever lower mine till it's just a weekend car. Good luck with the exhaust.

                  • as far as fumes go I don't see side exit being any better than dumped, the only real way to not get those fumes is to run it completely out the back and hope there is no wind.

Good point. . . I have a couple of spots where the rust is through the metal in the body, that's my biggest concern. If fume issues won't be any worst with TD's dumped than with exhaust out the back, then I might give the TD's a try.

                      • hey battle, dumping it at the axle or side exit is pretty much the same, my car is dumped at the rear end and my truck has a side exit, get fumes from both but not bad at all, and both vehicles are running 93 without cats

Thanks battle! Glad to see you made it over here!

I am running 93 with no cats as well, as long as the fumes aren't bad, I'll give it a shot.

Actually there are 2 things nobody picked up on. haha

I mentioned one of them in this thread already, although I didn't go into detail, and many people probably didn't catch it either.

I'm going to keep those secrets until M&G time now. I'm having fun with it!
