OK, Well I guess its time for me to chime in on this "way out of control thread".
Its a "what size carb for Jon Thread", not "why did you pick this and that" thread.
First off, their is alot of wrong info in this thread about what Jon has!
Like his camshaft. Its NOT a solid camshaft but a HYDRAULIC camshaft! We changed his order at the last minute to a smaller camshaft. Its the XE284H with a operating range of 2300-6500
    http://www.compcams.com/Cam_Specs/Ca...x?csid=88&sb=2

The Trickflow heads have a 195cc intake runner NOT the 180cc I seen posted.

I beleive when Jon fires this engine up, he will have a smile from ear to ear!!!

Ok glad that's taken care of, I didn't even think trick flow made 180 cc heads? lol. 195 is definitely better.

And lol its a Hydraulic flat tappet cam, Not a soild roller/or hydralic roller like we all thought, It threw me off when someone said roller rockers. Also again I still don't think that is that big of a cam, deffinatly a good one, but NOT to big for steet. (in my opinion)

          Back to CARB.

          750 no bigger.

Well thanks to creight the info is set straight. That could have been done much earlier in this thread... People can only suggest the best with then info provided, right or wrong... Creight has given the correct specs so now a decision can be had.

I thought the info was posted in the 1st post. But as a re-read all of this I see the cam spec was listed wrong from the get-go. Then the snow ball effect took place!

Cam and head selection does matter though Jon. I think most of us here just don't want to see you end up with a pile of mis-matched parts that don't work well together and makes your motor run like poo because that's no fun.

dude chill out no one is telling you what to do and read this thread I think there is a lot of useful information here about carbs and what to use for your application. And like James said below cam and heads play a factor in what carb you are going to want. So some guys on here asked for the specs to better help you, if was just ncie of creight to post the specs so they could better help you. in the end no one cares what you go with cause its your choice just these guys were trying to steer you in the right direction. you asked for help they gave it to you no need to get all pissed and droping the F bomb...

exactly, its a package deal you cant just throw a bunch of random parts together and hope it works. just needed the information.

But anyhow jon sounds like the carb you have would work, or just a tad smaller then what you already have. You just need to decide if you want mechanical or vaccum secondaries sounds like to me that would be your preference and use of the car...

Good luck man cant wait to see it all come together.

As James and Darren stated everything has to work together so a properly matched combo will be the best performer. This also effects the rest of the drivetrain aswell. Without the proper transmission, stall convertor (if equipped) and rear gear selection your car could turn into a turd.
It's my opinion that your cam is still a bit on the big side for a street car but if your dead set on using it that's fine. The heads I have no problems with, your intake selection is another story, Is it a Edelbrock Torquer (single plane) or is it a Performer RPM (dual plane). What intake do you have ?
Single planes are more race oriented because power is optimized at higher rpm while dual planes build better low and mid range torque (something a street car needs).

Sorry if it seems like I'm critiquing your build but I want you to have the best possible performer and if you comprimise in one of these area's that's not going to happen. If you can make it to B-dubs on Sat come see me and we'll talk some more shop.

Depending on how your phone call or calculator session with Holley goes, I would vote for 650 cfm with vacuum secondaries. If you're cruisin' and not looking to maximize your times at the strip, then go for driveability and fuel efficiency (that is, not dumping fuel).

The cam specs I posted were from the other thread but I added the extra lift that the 1.6 rocker would do.

I'll edit the 1st post to reflect the changes

                                Yes. I agree.

Id get a 650 Double Pump carb. (i strongly recommend a A Barry Grant Demon or a Holley) A Demon is a modified Holly basically.

I bought a 750 for my 383 Knowing it will be a little big and will take some fine tunning and what not, And knowing my car will be loading up alot. DON'T get anything bigger than a 750 Jon you will regret it.
