the area between the gauges will just have a couple led's for turn signal indicators but thats it..my other gauges are in my a pillar, and will be in my heater vents

got the fiberglass trimed up nice and good...started with my filler.. got about two layers of filler in there right now..maybe one more will do thats the only problem with fiberglass...its not real smooth when it dries so you need some kind of filler.. anyways, im back off to the garage now...hopefully i can get this finished or just about finished tonight..

alright well im going to call it a night...the day has been going pretty smoothly and i dont want to push my luck by trying to hurry up and get it done...
the gauge panel is complete minus a little bit of fine sanding in the morning. the plastic trim that gets screwed to the front of the oem gauge cluster needs just a little bit more grinding to get a perfect fit then itll be time for dye and final assembly of the gauge cluster i will hopefully be able to show you guys a finished product tomorrow

got the first couple coats of dye on the gauge cluster..its gonna have to take a decent amount of coats so itll be a while before its done. in between coats i picked up my upper a arm mounts from powdercoat, put the a arms on and tried fitting the assembly in only to run into yet another issue.. the lower mounts of the struts are angled upwards when they need to angle downward in order to sit flush with the lower a arm... i tried twisting it inside its bushing but it dosnt want to budge much and i kinda tweeked my back a bit messing with it so i decided to just pick up my block from the shop and call it a day

so saturday i took my struts up the shop and had the guys spin the struts 180 so the angled brackets will match the lower a-arms..didnt want to do that because my adjusters will be facing inwards but thats the way its going to have to be i guess

anyways...this morning i gave the struts a second try and they fit perfect . after i got the struts in i started working on the new steering rack.. the spohn peice came with a new rod to attach near the firewall at the first stock u-joint and runs down to the rack. was kind of a pain to take apart the oem rod, but nothing a garage heater, pos screwdriver and a hammer cant fix. i had to shorten up the spohn rod a bit but it went on nice and easy.
ill be ordering new spindles come payday but for now i put the old ones back on so i can get the car out of the garage to dye the dash so i can start making some progress. i some how wound up stripping the upper ball joint on the driver side but itll be fine for just pushing it in and out of the garage.. when i get the new spindles ill buy some moog uppers while im at it i guess.

problem number 2 though is a little bigger... after getting it all assembled i went to throw on the wheels and the steering knuckle is hitting the inside portion of the wheel.. i tried to place the knuckle at the top of the spindle and it hits the sway bar so i cut of the end of the bolt as much as i could but it still rubs the wheel any ideas? i was kinda thinking grind out the inside of the spindle just a bit at the bottom.. the bolt that attatches there is tapered so i think if i do that itll help that bolt slide up a little bit more and give me the clearence i need...

alright so i fixed my problem with the steering knuckle...turned out theres a second nut on there to adjust how far up/down the is from the spindle... just took off the nut, put the connector back on, tightened it all up and cut off the remaining threads...fits perfect.
threw the wheels back on to push it out of the garage...im amazed how stiff the front end is....was bouncing on the k member and it was hardly moving an inch ..this things going to be a monster

anyways so i got the car out of the garage and hit the dash with dye...dash is looking great! cant wait to throw it in! ill put it in probably tomorrow once the cars all dried off from the snow/ice it accumulated while it was outside.
