Three honks, when I got my new dash kit, it was kind of heavy in the fact that it's cumbersome. Not very balanced weight.

[QUOTE=Caveman;519344] powder coat
. wanna powder the heads as well
According to my powder coat guy, he isn't a fan of doing powder on blocks and heads because of the insulating properties inherent with it. I was gonna do the same in my build, but hearing him out, I chose against it and had him bake on ceramic paint. According to him, powder coating will start to soften up, given a certain amount of heat and will start to come off. He says that it works great on under car parts like A arms and suspension stuff, that stays relatively cool, but starts to be a problem with parts that run in higher heat applications, such as exhaust and engines. I thought I'd throw that out to ya before you did it.sigpic
Why the Hell do I have to press 1 for english?!

I really dont think thats a good idea ryan. Cut the AC off the box and plate the blower, you'll save enough weight doing that and still be able to keep heat, defroster and fan. Once you tear into your dash your going to break all kinds of fasteners and i bet itll be 3x the rattletrap it is (isnt) now.Originally posted by ThreeHonks View Posthow hard was it to get that dash out? my big ugly HVAC box is coming out soon. the dash was a royal pain to get out...it took me about 2-3 hours to get it out..and you have to be very careful...theres about 100 little plastic clips all over the place. the hvac stuff does weigh an awful lot...that along with the pass side air bag probably shed about 50 pounds or so... but yeah id deffinaly recomend not trying to remove the dash unless your not concerned with breaking stuff or having rattles...< Black Betty >

yep, the merv is the example you should follow if you do it at all. I really wouldnt mess your dash up though, you got a pristine car keep it that way.Originally posted by ThreeHonks View PostSo i can just pull the motor and cut the box out with a dremel? No dremel or cutting at all....its like 7 bolts from the engine bay and 4 or 5 from under the dash and the entire assembly comes out...its just a painOriginally posted by ThreeHonks View Postfrom what i understand, he took a dremel to it and cut it out from the engine bay.< Black Betty >

Yeah my bad I guess I read something wrong...Originally posted by ThreeHonks View Postim planning on removing it without taking the dash out, so i will have to cut it out somehow
Cutting it isn't going to do much unless you get real ugly with it.. That unit has to come out from the inside of the car...the spot you see from under the hood is only a foot - foot and a half wide but the part that's in the car is about two - two and a half feet wide ad well as the blower and the cores are too deep to be able to make the turn so it can clear the wheel well or atleast it seemed that way to me.. Imho I think the pain you would go through just to get it out would out weigh the satisfaction of it being out.. Wasn't a big deal for me because everythings coming out anyways for undercoat, dye and paint..< Black Betty >
