  • [Project] tearing apart the 350 tpi iroc!!!

well today was the tear down day for the iroc me and a fellow member mike akondo hope i spelled that right started tearing down the 350 in my iroc due to a bad rod knock well so far we got all the harnesses tore off the intake and runners the massive amount of vaccum labeled and took off... had to beat sockets over some stripped torx bolts from the previous owners mishaps and had to grind off one (thank god i have a huge assortment of tools and a compressor as big as a honda fit)my goal is to get some serious hp out of a tpi 350 i plan on having this be a hp monster im looking to build a big hp tpi pushing it to the limit without going stone age(carb) already we ran into a bolt snapped off in the head and the bolt put back in with gasket maker but the plans are some aftermarket intake runners and intake a good set of headers alot of shine and alot of repaint of little pieces also a aftermarket set of pullies edelbrock hp water pump etc....pics of kandy(the iroc)and the progress soon to come!

also if anyone has some monster tpi info it would be greatly appriciated!

TPI and "horsepower monster" don't usually coincide - now...TORQUE monster on the other hand.

Hop on TGO if you want TPI advice. Honestly, id opt for more cubes and intake design.

Haha no problem, im actually not a fan of TBI or TPI, but if I had to pick I'd be putting a carb on my car lol! I thought about changing mine over to TPI cause it looks so much better in the engine bay but...

              anyhow THIRDGENS ROCK!

TPI does have that going for it - it looks bad ass...

...and it makes SHIT TONS of torque.

Glad to see you guys got it quite a bit of work done. I cleared my PM box yesterday morning not even thinking that your number was in it. Next time you're thinking of putting in a solid 3+ hours of work on it give me a shout and I'll make the trip back to Fentucky.

Yeah, getting that TPI off was a ton of fun. I really liked the broken torque bolt glued back into the intake. Idiots.

Too bad about all the rust we found on the body, but I won't steal the thunder, i'll let Nick tell you all about the adventure......8-O

sorry to hear about the cancer and shoddy redneck work they did to your car. depending on how much rust you have you may still be able to save this car. luckily the worst rust i found was drivers floor pan and drivers door with a small hole behind the passenger seat. btw there was a real nice article in last months super chevy magazine called the chump change challenge. using a na junkyard tpi 350 with about a grand they made 407 hp and 410 tq. check it out. if i were not looking to go bbb or bbo with my car i would try it myself...

it would take alot of money to restore this car my plans are to part it out unless someone here wants it im keeping the motor and building a carbed engine
