since my A/C compressor is bad I left that on as well. All you have to disconnect is:
1.Minus bat term on fender well.
    2. Plus bat terminal block.
    3. brake lines to front brakes at anti brake unit.
4 plugs to front wheel hubs. (Located by LCA's)
    5 PCM.
    6. 3 plugs and vac inside kick panel pass side.
    7. Hydrolic act. to clutch.
7a. Shift cable to trans on automatic.
    8. all coolant hoses. and A/C lines to condenser coil.
    9. Drive shaft.
    10 trans cross mount..
    11. torgue arm.
    12. steering wheel coupler.
    13. remove radiator and A/C coil.

    I believe thats all.

Now the 10,000,000 question - should you be able to push the plunger on the lifter down or not? The "collapsed lifter" was mildly easy to push the plunger up and down. The "good lifter" next to it was "frozen" solid.

Normally you can push them down but it takes a LOT of force. You have to think it has to be strong enough to move the pushrod, rocker, and valve spring. During the teardown of the 3.4 we had one that drained of oil and caused it to collapse. That is what caused me to tear the top end down 3 times before I figured it out what was causing my dead cylinder.

I've worked with "anit-pump-ups" before and had to give them force to work the oil in before assembly. It almost sounds like one froze up and one collapsed on you.

I'd say you have an issue lol. You arent supposed to just push it down with ease. Think about how much spring pressure is against that lifter when its fully open.. Now Larry's gotta spend all that money on a cam, lifters, pushrods, rocker arms, a procharger, and a new fuel pump.

Good job! Something is definitely not right with those head bolts - they shouldn't be THAT hard to break loose...

In reference to the head bolts, I bet someone used RTV on the ends to seal them into the water jackets. When you do that, you can end up with a hydraulic lock on the bolt. Looking good, Larry. Pretty soon I will get to do round 2 on dropping my engine out... ugh.

I agree. Sanibel is one of my favorite places as well. Its a very relaxing place. We always stay at logger head kay where the largest beach is. Captiva is nice too.

Lookin great Larry!!! LTX or bust!!!
