We'll see how far along he is when I get home from work today. He hasn't been replying to e-mails so I wouldn't be surprised if I get home and he's already bolted the heads on. He's a stubborn old man and anxious to get his car back on the road.
If he has it bolted on already, we'll see what he says. I've told him before, "It's your car - you do what you want with it..." I'll support whatever decision he makes as much as I don't agree with aspects of what he's done so far with the rebuild.- Brian Meissen

no problem Larry, glad your making good progress. Also this was indeed a formula with a guy driving.Doing less with more

yikes, I'd get them checked at detroit muscles shop. who knows with the ole straightline... not my car I guess, but I'd want to be pickier than that if the engine is out and apart already..Originally posted by meissen View PostDad took a straight line against the heads and there's definitely no warping or anything like that - the heads are flat as can be.Last edited by Derek; September 16th, 2009, 07:01 PM.-Derek-

I have a lot of mic's, depth gauges, straight edges etc. maybe not the latest but works. could not get even .0005 variation on head surface in and direction. If I would have then I'd taken it in and had it resurfaced.sigpic

I agree too but the old man put it back together. He also reused the same head bolts on the one side because the fel pro head bolts (although I recommended ARP) broke on him.
I've just had to take the stance "your car - you do it how you want..."
