      • Today was a very historical day in the life of Project DZ74. She started and ran for the first time in 22 years tonight. My buddies, John S. and Ray C. were over tonight and we and we got the old girl fired up.

The engine fired right up after we finished priming the oil one more time, setting TDC and installing the distributor. She ran for about 5 minutes while we set the timing and such. When we started to run up the RPMs to run in the cam, she over heated on us and sprayed coolant all over the place.

We fiddled with the wiring on the electric fans and set a big floor fan in front of the radiator, and fired it up again. This time the tamp stayed steady and we were able to run the cam in for a half hour.

We idled her down, checked the timing again and enjoyed the sound of the L-82 350 breathing through the headers and Pypes stainless steel exhaust system.

I still hardly believe it happened. 8-O

So, that was one BIG step towards getting the Project finished and back on the road by August 22/23.
RIP Doug,You will always be remembered

                    • What some may not realize is this is NOT a motor we just built.
Doug assembled this engine 22 YEARS AGO but never fired it. It's been sealed and sitting in the garage for more than 2 DECADES.
We had WMCC Dave K go through and check it out. He even used one of those little camera's to see inside the bores. He checked the heads, installed the roller rockers and set the lash. Carb guru Jim Buckmaster in Wisconsin rebuilt and tuned the carb for us.
Then last night WMCC John S. worked his magic and now she lives and breaths again!!!

Ray, depending on how large the files are you can either go to http://videos.mifbody.com/ or even putfile.com and host it either place.
