Meissen it all seems to me that there was an issue before you started on it. What did you use to hone the cylinders? The right method is to use a ball hone with a drill to put cross hatches.. I donno what 3 prong thing from Murrays you used...Last edited by shawnc16; May 9th, 2009, 11:56 AM.-08 G8 GT DD: Rotofab CAI, HID's, Breyton Race GTS'

Well, my dad and I cleaned the heads out yesterday with mineral spirits. Got all the metal flakes out of it and then "washed" the springs and such out with oil. Should be all set for whenever the motor comes home. I also painted the calipers again and my dad worked on a little something special...- Brian Meissen

I'm still debating on whether or not I want to post pictures. It was supposed to be a surprise for the Meet & Greet before my engine went kaput.
Hmmm, well maybe I'll only take 2-3 low-res pictures...

The calipers got washed out from the flash - it's really red and matches the car quite well.- Brian Meissen

I've used the 3 prong thing many times and never EVER had a problem and the same motor has been running 3 years now and great i might add.Originally posted by shawnc16 View PostMeissen it all seems to me that there was an issue before you started on it. so i would have to agree with you something was wrong with it before he bought it.

Yeah, unfortunately since we didn't check the bearings we can't know for sure.
At this point we're just assuming we screwed it up.
