  • [Project] Yoeasy69's 383 Build

This project has been done now for about 1 1/2 yrs. but I asked Josh if I could post it because he is busy with the Marines right now.

Josh contacted me about 1 1/2 ago and asked if I could build him a motor, a 383 and I was glad to

This motor has some good stuff in it and it was a budget build in a way.

Started with a spare LT-1 block I had in my garage, 2 bolt main.

    Back from the engine shop

    Block was painted green

The rotating assembly is an Eagle Competition Rotating Assembly with:
    Fordged Flat Top Pistons
    H-Beam Rods
    Forged Crank

Heads are Trick Flow 195's that Josh found on Ebay with a cam for 1200.
    Cam specs: 236/242 @ .050 .544/.541 lift w/ 110 LSA & 2* advance
    108* Intake Center Line

ARP assembly Lube was used on all bolts

Here comes the Crank! ARP Studs were used also

    Cam is in

All rings were file fit by hand

    Piston incoming!!

    Clotes Timing Chain

    Degreeing cam

    1st mark 66*

    2nd mark 152*

    66 + 152 = 218 / 2 = 109 installed Center Line

    Oil pump Drive installed

Elgin lifters were used w/ assembly lube

HV Oil pump & Windage Tray installed

    Oil Cooler installed

    Head Bolts

Heads Installed w/ Comp 1.52 Roller Tip Rockers

Also with the heads and cam came some nice Valve Covers

A Solid Pilot bearing was also installed

    Located some SVO 36lb Injectors

Josh found some used Hooker LT's

The motor was shipped with parts not installed because Josh had to remove them from his motor so I did everything I could for him

While I was working on the motor Josh decided to switch from a A4 to a M6 and did that conversion him self.

Josh is still stationed in the Carolina's and has just started to remove his motor to begin the install.

Hope it all goes well for ya bud

I was wondering what was going on with his car, he mentioned building a 383 so long ago but never any follow up, looks very nice though Kyle.

      Thanks!

The Marries keep him hopping so he don't get much down time and we ran into a head issue back in the Summer and it took a while to get ironed out.

In fact I had to break the motor down and do it 2x's because it sat for a year as a short block and I wanted to make sure it was good before I shipped it.

Yes, the covers have a notch, just hard to see because they are black.

Yes B, they split a while ago.

                    Josh, no problem!

He should be around the 420-450 range.

He is also planning on No2 so he could be 600 if he does it right

The rotating assembly is rated for 1200HP.

                            Thanks for the comments

                              Yes kyle does amazing work!

me n mandy have 7 months to go on our 12 month seperation before we can finalize n i am once again a free man.. never again.... ugh.. what a waste..

talking with a local tuner down here and he said with the setup i can expect at least 440. n planning on a 250 wet shot prolly next summer. of course once i get some bills paid off n straight prolly alot more to come..

expecting to be putting it in in about 2 weeks. cannot wait.

the green block derives from my green car with the same neon green interior.
