  • [Project] Project Vette Power!

Well here is my first official project thread! I just bought a 2001 Pontiac Trans Am WS6 M6 from a guy in North Carolina and it is on it’s way up here on a carrier. The car has quite a few mods which I’ll name later. The car is red and absolutely beautiful, the only down fall is it has a spun rod bearing. Which isn’t much of a down fall since I have a nice low L92 short block and brand new L92 heads sitting in the back garage! I’m basically going to be following the article in GMHTP. My plan is to have this all done and tuned up for the M&G so wish me luck. I am going to be taking a few of the parts off the LS1 that are interchangeable and then I’m selling the rest. So if anyone wants to get any dibs on the parts I am going to be giving some pretty good deals since I need to the money to finish the project! Anyways onto mods and pictures!

Modifications the car is coming with:
    LS6 Intake - Selling
Stage II heads, milled 0.030 - Selling maybe Keeping Springs, Locks, Retainers - Selling
    TR 224 Cam - Selling
TR 7.35" pushrods - Maybe Selling
    Ls6 oil pump - Keeping
Double roller timing chain - Selling
    Hooker Long tubes - Keeping
    O/R Y pipe - Maybe Keeping
    Magnaflow muffler - Probably Selling
    Cutout - Maybe Keeping
    Eibach sportlines - Keeping
    Chrome z06 wheels - Keeping
TNT F2 N2O Wet kit, bottle heater, custom purge out nostrils, RPM Limiter, etc. - Selling Everything
12K on LS6 clutch LS2 flywheel. New axles. - Keeping
Pillar gauge pod with Narrow A/F meter - Keeping
    EGT gauge - Selling

Parts List for swap: I will be converting the L92 to a LS3 because I want to keep the stock functionality but will keep the VVT stuff for later.
    L92 Short Block - Have
L92 Heads Full Assembled with Rockers - Have
L76 Intake and Fuel Rail - Have
42 lb LS7 Injectors with Adaptors - Have
Fast 90 Throttle Body - Have
    85mm Truck MAF - Have
    LS3 Intake Valves - Need
    LS3 Timing Cover - Need
    LS3 Cam Gear - Coming
LS3 Timing Chain Dampener - Coming
    LS3 Timing Chain - Have
All Gaskets - Front cover, WP, Oil Pan, Oil Pump Seal, Heads , Exhaust, etc. - Coming
Bolt Kits - Heads, balancer Bolt, etc. - Coming
LPE Cam and Crank sensor Converter Box - Coming
LPE Knock sensor converter harness - Coming
Oil Pan setup from the car - Have
Engine sensors that I don’t have on the L92 already - Have
Vengeance Racing Stage 2 Cam - Coming
    7.4" Hardened Pushrods - Coming
TEA Dual Valve Spring Kit - Coming

For the cam I am planning around 480-500 RWHP cam only so I’ve been looking at the on using the LG Motorsports G6X3 which has made 501 RWHP cam only plus bolt-ons or the Vengeance Racing LS3 II Cam which make 480-485 RWHP cam only with bolt-ons. Not set on either but that’s the ball park. I’ll probably clean up the ports a little too on the heads.

As far as looks go I think I’m going to paint the engine bay a gloss black and also paint the sail panel of the car gloss black for now. I might do the CETA Mod.

Anyways her are some pics of the car, I‘ll get better ones when it‘s here. Also I’ll get pics of parts up as they show up.

NOTE: If any of the sponsors want to help me out on some of the parts needed that would be greatly appreciated!

Question: Does anyone think I'll be fine with the stock rod bolts from the L92 or should I go with ARP or Katech... I won't be at the track at all if ever but one time and I'm not a person that gets into the high high rpm's all the time.
